Thank you .. I got a reply immediately..!

“If you remove R49 and short R48 this should bring the output level down to where you want it.”

I received a reply from John Pisani, the chief engineer for New Sensor / EHX.

He said that using a TS plug in the EXP jack is no problem at all, and explained that the power to the ring connection is via a 2.2k resistor driving a 5V Zener to ground, and shorting across that Zener (by inserting a TS plug) will only amount to ~4ma through the resistor.

    Great..!

For my own clarification, I crunched the numbers:

9V supply, 2.2kΩ to ground = 4.0909 mA through the resistor

9V supply, 4.0909 mA through the resistor = 36.818 mW dissipation

The 2.2kΩ resistor will only dissipate 1/27th of a Watt, so there is no danger of that 2.2kΩ resistor overheating.

Therefore: Using a TS plug in the EXP jack is safe.

    Thanks, done..!

    I’ll post any information here.

The Trimmers are FET bias, sweep depth and Mix trim

Clearly that warning is necessary and obvious, bot does not address the topic.

For example, the DMM actually specifies a maximum voltage of 10.5Vdc , which is the sort of detail I’m asking about here.

    Hello folks,

i really loved my Memory Toy, as it was a big part of my Sound in Modern Jazz Music. I really liked the Modulation, which gave slightly detuned movement to every note. Sadly, my toy broke. After much consideration, I now bought a Memory Boy, as I thought it could do exactly what the Toy did, but even more.

But now i find myself having a hard time to reproduce the “movement” of the “Mod”-Mode of the Memory Toy on my new Memory Boy.
For my ears, both “Vibrato” and “Chorus” have different charachteristics then the “Mod”-Mode of the Toy.

What does the Modulation of the Toy really do and how can I tweek my Boy to sound like the Toy in “Modulation”?

    Thank you guys!

I have the Memory Toy and the Deluxe Memory Man TT and I have no problems duplicating the modulation effect of the Memory Toy on the Memory Man, it’s a slow triangle wave modulation,
On the Memory Boy, set the toggle switch for the LFO shape in the up (triangle) position and the LFO rate switch in the down (“chorus” ) position then set the “Depth” knob to about 10:00.. this should be close to the Memory Toy.

Thanks for the speedy reply! Any luck with the actual milliamp requirement?

    Nope

    Resurrecting this thread..

I just made some measurements of 3 of my modern Electro Harmonix pedals when driven by a regulated, low impedance power source:

Deluxe Memory Man TT-1100 typical current draw: 160mA, though at minimum delay time I measured 190mA and at maximum delay time with all LEDs off (and pedal bypassed) I measured 140mA

Ravish Sitar (rev “F” PC board, metal washers on the jacks)actual current draw: 150mA consistently

Memory Toy actual current draw: 18.5mA at maximum delay time and 23.2mA at minimum delay time.

The analog delay units draw more current at shorter delay times due to the higher clock frequency.
