Well, ghost, it appears the Freeze is here! Not the “Freezer” perhaps, but still, who knows? An XO version may be coming down the road for us. I have not got my hands on one yet but I hope to do so in the near future……..and my congrats for starting the Freezer thread!
WatsonWoodMemberQuote:they did have at least about a half dozen treadle pedals in the past, and yes we all here in the forum have been pushing EHX to reissue them.Yup! And although I have been away from the forum for some time now I am still with you for a re-issue of the Crying Tone series! One good way to help the effort is to cast your vote here:

and become a member of the ARC – The (unofficial) Association for the Re-Issue of the Crying ToneJune 29, 2010 at 5:29 pm in reply to: New Devices: Germanium^4 Big Muff &, .44 Magnum, Freeze, Neo Clone, & Headphone Amp #109885WatsonWoodMemberSo the Freeze has come at last, and we can surely expect a bigger XO version soon no doubt. Back some time ago my “design” for the “Freezer” was for an XO pedal so there is hope yet!
Anyway, I join with all to say thanks to EHX for being on the ball yet again. Great stuff!
….and I look forward to EHX bringing out their own “Enchanter” pedal to get some mystical Indian sounds going, that would be seriously cool!
……and a new Crying Tone series, n’est-ce pas? 🙄WatsonWoodMemberSimple. Get a vintage Deluxe Octave Multiplexer with integrated Muff fuzz.
WatsonWoodMemberQuote:no problem..there were other issues and views both ‘for’ and ‘against’ but in the end we just figured it would be easier to atleast start the forums without a ‘for sale’ section…. it was kind of left open to see what would happen and let the forum ‘settle in’ before thinking about it again, now on reflection I don’t think it’s a bad thing.
…… also remember than volunteer admin don’t have any real contact with staff at EHX and this kind of thing isn’t something we could make a decision on without the full support of EHX, the way I see it now is if they wanted it they would contact us (admin) to see about implementing it and that hasn’t happened, so I presume they want to keep things the way they are.
I am in full agreement with the “no trades” policy. It helps the forum be what it is, which for me is pretty stimulating.
There are already deals on EHX vintage gear just about everywhere a musician can look and the best way to control prices is to refuse to buy overpriced equipment. Believe me, the prices will adjust extremely quickly.
Towards the end of last year I was offered a vintage Muff Fuzz Crying Tone for 1,200 USD! I just laughed. I am pretty sure that “sales person” is still sitting on the precious object counting imaginary riches.
So, thanks, admin, you are doing a great job!
WatsonWoodMemberI am for the re-issue of the Deluxe Big Muff with integrated compressor in an XO enclosure. The Soul Preacher has been re-issued in Nano form already, so EHX have all the updated elements to re-issue the DBM.
WatsonWoodMemberYes, the DOM is a classic EHX pedal and should not present any trouble at all for re-issue, even in the XO series.
WatsonWoodMemberQuote:as far as the ‘freezer’ goes….you can already get these types of pedals (not buy ehx though )….i have a digital delay pedal that will hold your note/chord while you press the footswitch, and release it you take your foot off…and you can play over whatever note/chord is being held. its great and i use it all the time in my band, its like having keyboards or synth behind the guitar and really fills out the sound.Which make of pedal is that, then?
WatsonWoodMemberQuote:I just picked up an Octave Multiplexer treadle a couple of months ago. It needs a bit of TLC, but when it is working correctly it sounds great!Ouch! I have been looking for one of those, as well as the CT series Bad Stone. I have been able to pick up another Crying Tone Wah, though, in great working order thanks to the EH Man. Ron is definitely a blessing to us earth musicians. And thanks for the kind comment Mr.Grim. I do enjoy the sounds they make too.
WatsonWoodMemberThe CT series. Did I say this before? Well, once more then. The CT series.
WatsonWoodMemberNot unreasonable at all! Let’s go for it. I know it is easily said and not so easily done but then MM is the great magician. May he wave his wand.
WatsonWoodMemberThe Pan Pedal is out of the cellar and performing all its tasks splendidly. Great stuff, solid CT chassis, good sound, no scratchy noises. Amazing after all this time but the CT enclosure series were really built to last, no question about that. A re-issue of this magic brother would help musicians enormously in creating and controlling their sound(s) while performing, either in studio or on stage.
WatsonWoodMemberQuote:Rather than having to trek to Belfast anytime I wanna try out an Electro Harmonix pedal the tiny family run music store at the end of my street now stock EHX, I’m stoked as the saying goes. Electro Harmonix for the win as we say.Now that sounds great news! I will redouble my efforts over here and start by quelling my conspiracy fears about the big German dealers cornering the market on EHX products. I’ll nip down to Hoins tomorrow morning.
WatsonWoodMemberAbsolutely worthy of investigation. And maybe the EH Man knows something about this.
WatsonWoodMemberThat sounds really interesting. I will try to see if I can find one of those pedals to check it out. They are hopefully not too expensive (the lovepedals, I mean). Normally the EHX foot switches are not a problem when playing live with the band or even in the studio, however I have had occasion to play live with theatre and modern dance and in these cases, where there are moments of silence, a large clunk echoing through the sound system is not always welcome.
Many thanks for the info. And I will check out the Cool Cat pedals as well, though Danelectro pedals have never seemed very solidly built to me. Again, many thanks for the input.
Now, would it be too much to ask EHX to develop a new non-mechanically-noisy foot switch which is technically as up to date as the XO series? -
