The 2880 is a decent stompbox worthy of live gigs as well as studio and home use so long as one uses the controller pedal. It’s more rock’n’roll than most loopers which is one of its multiple cool features. Feature number one? The fantastic sound quality. Vive la 2880!!!

Well, Mike and EHX have hit the lodestone. Do I have to say..once more?!!! Forum members might recall the Enchanter thread from some time ago, with some cool photos, and the discussion about developing a sitar effect for electric guitars. And I have been fooling around with some of those ideas BUT home electronics in my case are a poor joke compared with the majesty of the Ravish.
When will the Ravish be available in Europe, I wonder?

Extract from the Enchanter thread started the 6th May 2009:
“I once tried out the Danelectro Swami, having heard it made some sitar-like sounds. No comment. Recently I bought a vintage re-issue Ampeg Scrambler. During a session I hooked it up to a Fender Stratocaster, then in to the EHX #1 Echo through a Vox amp. I was amazed at getting a sitar-type sound which was very pleasing.

So, since we are up for ideas, I think it would be nice to have an EHX pedal named The Enchanter.
The Enchanter would enchant the player and the listener by enhancing the mantra and raga type sounds guitars sometimes approach, depending on the way they are played of course.

Oriental scales would take on a new life with the Enchanter.”

Mike and the EHX have now more than fulfilled my/our hopes and expectations!

I have a dual speaker Freedom Amp, with reverb, and it packs a serious punch! However it is in sore need of basic circuit repair to reduce the dangerous-sounding hum it picks up after a couple of minutes on tap. I also played gigs with an MM Freedom Amp in the ’70s and found it great. There was an old Freedom amp for sale on eBay Germany or Switzerland a few days ago. It was in need of repair too, so I reckoned I should get mine running smoothly before taking on more.

Great idea(s)! Nothing like some thinking around the box. How about some tips on increasing the number of SMMH memory presets? I look forward to the EHX Tone Tip series with great joy!

Ummh..it took a little time but I have now tried out tweaking the trim pots on one of my Electric Mistresses, a vintage DEM, and the sounds are getting towards the Enchanter. Adding a vintage Hot Tubes up front helps a bit, too. So my next step into the land of the Enchanter will be to buy an old Mistress and an old Hot Tubes and see what happens when putting them together.

Sounds like you guys have got clean Green Mistresses. The one I am about to refurbish (for the second time since I’ve had it) looks as if it suffered a small explosion…but still works when all the parts are held together. I just sold my vintage DEM having decided I prefer the Green Mistress. It makes really warm, cool sounds and has slightly less twang in Matrix Mode than the DEM.

Maybe I mentioned it before? The Freedom Amp I picked up has twin speakers and a reverb. All original. It is really loud.

That seems a pretty good price. I bought mine way back when and it is still up and running. I can’t remember the original price, though. Maybe Ron could help on that one.

Hi Folks,I’m new here and have been using E-H gear since 1970.I had a Crying Tone pedal years ago as I bought one as soon as they came out.I found that the Crying Tone was a great and flexible wah with so many possible wah sounds.Unfortunately I traded it and a set of headphones for a Vox Phantom XII some years later(not a bad swap by the way)and have been looking for one ever since even going as far as posting an ad locally to see if it was still around.I’d like to see the pedal reissued as so many guitarists these days often use 2 or more wahs to get their desired sound.Since the Crying tone was such a variable pedal it would be great for today’s guitarist.

Well, gitslinger, why not join the ARC? https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewthread/1295/ All votes appreciated!

Yes, I love my Holy Stain and there is absolutely room for, let us say, a Deluxe Holy Stain version…..with memory sets and no more volume balance issues! I use mine a great deal despite its being somewhat quirky as to what goes in signal-wise and what comes out (!) depending on the HS settings and the type of guitar/instrument being used. My HS gets extremely sensitive when other EHX devices are invited to join the sound-making process….not to mention that the HS has a strong tendency to flatten out playing dynamics….so, there is a lot of room for improvement in a higher grade version.

Now that sounds cool! How do you handle the rest of the equipment while Golden Throating? I wanted to use one of these GTs with my Electravibe but what with two vibes mallets in each hand and a balancing act between the vibes’ expression pedal and my effect pedals I reckoned it was not worth the effort. (Not forgetting my experience trying one out with electric guitar). However, reading your post makes me think I should at least have tried once…..or maybe twice!!!!

Well, considering your fantastic web site, it is certainly fitting that you have been able to get such wonderful information. In my own experience over the last thirty-seven years of using a load of EHX pedals, each time one came back from a techie I would have to tweak it by ear. This sometimes resulted in several hours bent over the trim pots on the circuit board before reaching a satisfactory result, especially with my first three Memory Man delays from the 70s and early 80s. I often wondered if there were “true” alignments to follow giving more precise results, for example a pleasing sound balance between trim, bias and depth, but I never came across any either in England, France or Germany….and, yes, I have always been fascinated by the wilder aspects of the great EHX pedal family.

Practical little metronome, never saw one before either. Yes, another re-issue candidate, it would fit nicely into the Nano format.
..and DiscoFreq, I’ve been searching for some alignment prints for my vintage EHX pedals. How did you get yours?
