That is certainly true! The 2880 can also be an awesome and strange echo machine, as it has proved to me on several occasions, most of which caught me by surprise in typical EHX fashion. Arpeggio, yes, very cool idea; foot controller, provided in the new no-moving-parts housing of the CT? The art would be to keep the Quad user interface as plain and simple as possible…and, no, I am not a MIDI freak, though MIDI control would open up a lot of possibilities.

A black box! A shiny thing? No moving parts? So, not a re-issue, more of a re-vision Crying Tone. Yes, I am talking feebly after seeing the vid of the new Crying Tone at EHX HQ! And more variations on this theme appear to have been announced to certain shops. This includes a Crying Tone with Fuzz, apparently. An Octave Multiplexer with no moving parts? This all sounds good. Thanks will be given as due once I get my foot on one of these. Shall we keep voting?
Attached is a photo from an online shop:

Wow! Not exactly a re-issue of the Crying Tone, more like a trip to the dark side of the moon. Very cool, indeed! Anyway, as a member of ARC I am extremely happy to contemplate the vision of things (soon) to come!

A few weeks after buying the Ravish Sitar I continue to be amazed by its properties and possibilities which, as I have joyfully discovered, include Arp-like synthesizer modulating and wonderful envelope effects, especially on the E and A bass strings. I am far from the end of discovery with this pedal and need to do some serious practice with programming scales….. what an Enchanter this pedal is! How many times can I say thank-you to EHX?

Now, that sounds really good! It would reduce overall cost, both manufacturing and, for us musicos, buying, which is of course important. Slot in and play. Excellent. And an expression pedal “cartridge” could join the choice range.

Yes, I agree. The enclosure is built to last and last. Fairly expensive nowadays. But somehow it would be great to have the wah shell packed with super circuits and boasting in & out, effect loop, expression, stereo pan and who knows what else.

An unidentified guitarist/singer from Lebanon in the Woodstock rock café in Bremen. He had five school books full of handwritten lyrics and chords covering about every acid-rock and country song recorded in the 60s and 70s. He also had some nifty technique on the guitar, a 70s Martin acoustic. After chatting with him over a coffee and a glass of water at three in the morning I discovered he was the proud owner of 32 guitars (acoustic & electric). He sang and played non-stop for three and a half hours with short breaks of about three seconds a time as he flipped through the pages to the next song. A human jukebox! And worth the listen. Yes, there is an acoustic world out there..

Christmas is coming, EHX have brought out some incredible new gear, there are rumours of a whole new series of magic pedals…it’s all happening fast. A good time to wave the Crying Tone flag once more. Who knows? Maybe this time we get lucky!

Well, Julian, just about a year exactly since your last post I was able to get one of the first Ravish Sitars to arrive in the UK. And I am Enchanted.

Yes, a decay feature like that would be excellent. Just needs one more little built-in chip really and an on/off toggle switch.

the only reason I didnt get a smmwh – was because of the numpty looping .,., whats up with the weird switching.,.,
    but – a great product,,,

Yes, the loop switch takes a while to get used too, especially for me since I have a set habit of beating out time with my foot. No problem to start the loop recording function but somewhat tricky at first when I have to think off the beat to finish the loop by raising my foot instead of stomping down. Ingrained habits die hard however I have now twigged a system which works for me. When the time comes to end the loop recording I breathe in and relax a few milliseconds before releasing the foot switch. Since using this method I have had no more trouble syncing the start and finish of the loops. A great help when playing loud and live.

    Good morning Bill,
First, thanks so much for your incredibly clear and inspiring presentation of the Ravish! I have performed live with the Ravish using several Vox amps so as to have a dedicated sound source for the drone. This worked out pretty well. My question is, when the Ravish is in Bypass Mode, is there still a signal out from the Sympathetic Output along with the Lead Output? The straight signal would then be routed to both my amp set ups. All the best, Robert.

Yes, that is true. But then Mike and the guys at EHX have come up with a lot of great pedals from day one, back in the 70s. As an EHX aficianado I can only rejoice at the great sounds I have been able to create thanks to their genius and I am quite sure that they are capable of creating amazing stuff on their own! More power to them on that count.
I am also sure that they take a keen and lively interest in the forum and the ideas going round, again a reason for us musicians to rejoice. Let’s all give them a big thank-you…..and come up with some more ideas!
