Congratulations! ARC is overjoyed that we no longer have to run around the stage as our EHX Next Step wah scoots off in various unwanted directions. The Wailer Wah appears just in time to prevent strange wahs from appearing on our EHX pedalboards! And live spur-of-the-moment EQ madness is back! Thank-you EHX. It took a while but was worth waiting for.
WatsonWoodMemberSince the 45000 functions with its foot controller, it should be possible to develop an alternative foot controller which incorporates basic functions such as record, play, fast forward, back, pause etc. as well as keeping the step features. Do any techies have ideas on this? The Quad Controller would plug in where the present foot controller connects.
WatsonWoodMemberI am now the happy owner of my seventh ’70s Crying Tone pedal, and Mael in Guingamp, Brittany, France, has repaired the one I had been using in concert for….a long time. Incredible sound! It will be back on my pedalboard for the next tour. Yes!
WatsonWoodMemberI have just done some more recording on the 2880, since my 45000 is set up for live gigs. Awesome sound, great recording quality. I am definitely hoping the EHX Quad will come to life. Come on, guys, you can do it!

WatsonWoodMemberI am with you all the way! Join the ARC!
WatsonWoodMemberRavish enclosure? Drums? How about a dedicated tabla pedal? There is one made in India which looks and sounds slightly delicate to say the least but the idea is great. (The Radel TAALMALA digi 100 PLUS http://youtu.be/_kEyXAUK4RY). So, after the Ravish Sitar, it would be wonderful to have a percussive companion XO called the Chanti with some basic tabla presets and the usual EHX magical buttons for tempo, sound, frequency and so forth, with stereo outputs representing the smaller dayan on the right and the larger, deeper sounding bayan on the left. In this way the Ravish Sitar and the Chanti would provide an amazing soundscape.
WatsonWoodMemberDid we get lucky? I bought a Next Step Talking Pedal, great sounds absolutely, however, after a few live outings with it, I got tired of the TP scooting about the floor and returning to flat default whenever I actuated another pedal, nor could I use it as a locked frequency effect, as with the classic Crying Tones which I still use (ARC). I now see that a rubber boot has appeared, no doubt in order to capture the NS beast for good. (A cradle of lightweight, durable polymer which is probably highly efficient). Anyway, I sold the NSTP to a musician friend who doesn’t perform live and he is happy with it from what I have heard.
In the light of my experience I got one of my classic Crying Tones back into my live gear and love its sound and stability and its magic features (frequency selection etc).
My suggestion may sound ancient to those who have not had the innate pleasure of experiencing the classic Crying Tones, but here it is…..Could we have a re-issue? And thanks for taking the time to read my request.

WatsonWoodMemberThanks for the info. Which takes me to the next question. Since I am going to have to check out the SMMH circuit et al, after a heavy weight hit the Hazarei and Delay knobs, resulting in the Loop function being permanently on, does anyone know where I can find a schematic for the SMMH?
Again, many thanks for any input!WatsonWoodMemberI get the point about the switches, there is some talk about this on another thread as well. All the same, the sound quality of the 2880 is so impressive that I am more than willing to get over the switch noise issue and I certainly would not go to a Boss Looper. I have tried several Boss models, excellent for the price but not up to the crystal-clear rendition of a 2880. I use mine for recording as well as live work.
WatsonWoodMemberQuote:Thanks for the prompt reply and for posting the link, these new pedals look very promising indeed but a direct knock-off of the original Crying Tone Pedal would really be sweet.I am in a full agreement, although to be fair I have only been able to check out the new CTs on video so far and am still using the original.
WatsonWoodMemberHi everyone, yes, a new and improved 2880 would be great. As soon as the news came that the 2880 was to be discontinued I started a thread to gather some votes for EHX to see that we who wish a new 2880-type Looper are both many and numerous!
Here is the thread: https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewthread/5687/
As has been seen in the past many times, thanks to the attentive care of the EHX guys, our votes count, so yours would be appreciated!
CheerssheehC!WatsonWoodMemberThis switching mod looks brilliant and just what the doctor ordered.
Noisy footswitching was a permanent feature of vintage EHX pedals, no problem when playing at seriously high volume on stage, in fact pretty useful sometimes since you had an idea if the pedal was on or off through the pressure on the sole of your foot (no LEDs). This said, I have had many occasions when playing live in small venues, or for theatre, modern ballet and such stuff, where a loud “clunk” went bouncing around the PA by means of the vocal mike, in moments of supposed quiet. Unfortunately this continues to happen with the new generation of EHX pedals.
So right now I often time my stomping on an effects pedal (99% EHX at this present time) to a loud bass drum beat or a hit on the snare. This doesn’t help in solo/quiet parts though……and is the principle reason why I did not buy a Freeze pedal..”Replacing the footswitch” should really no longer be necessary on EHX pedals. The EHX genius has developed some amazing new sounds and musical features…why are we still dealing with `70s switch noise?WatsonWoodMemberAfter a short tour of 15 gigs my Ravish Sitar has proven to be as roadworthy as the most rugged vintage EHX pedals in my possession. Great to be able to modulate the sounds in realtime in the middle of a solo and then punch back into mem mode in a millisecond just before vocals et al start up again.
I was hesitant about using the RS on the road and had been holding back but now….no more! The RS is definitely a stompbox worthy of its name…..Next step will be to juggle between two expression pedals. -
