I’m jealous. Good find! Can’t wait to hear it!

TheGhostMachinaMemberYes, it is very good. Reminds me a bit of The Flaming Lips. But I’m listening to them a lot lately. Vocals are very good. I would def like to hear more from you. But my fav parts are the drum fills (when they come in/end) and the “feedbacky” guitars. It provides a nice contrast to the organic acoustic from the intro. What did you use for the drums?

January 5, 2011 at 12:07 am in reply to: Replaing Little Big Muff and Dano Fab Tone with Germanium 4…. #113515TheGhostMachinaMemberI went from a Little Big Muff to the tone wicker version just before Xmas. I find the tone wicker to be much more versatile compared to the LBM. Ya just gotta watch the volume when you switch off the tone stack.
I don’t own one, so I’m only speaking from second hand information, but I don’t know if the G4BM will get you that “Big Muff” sound. Cryabetes is right tho’, it’ll give you more tone shaping options. If you do decide to go the G4BM route, I’d still keep the Fab Tone in the mix.
I run an LPB-1 into a Catalinbread Dirty Lil Secret, then into my BMwTW and finally into a POG2. Different combos of these pedals give me a lot of different options without having to tweek anything on stage.
Hope that helps!

TheGhostMachinaMemberCryabetes – Nice setup. Is yer Murf the midi version?

TheGhostMachinaMember+1 on the Microsynth. I’d love to hear that on violin. The Freq Analyzer could be nice to.. Or the RingThing, which is a much more feature packed ring modulator. But I highly recommend the Freeze. Especially combined with the Deluxe Memory Boy (in the FX loop). I got that idea from Bill Ruperts Freeze edition of “Effectology”. If you haven’t seen his Effectology series yet, I highly recommend it. I believe there are 18 or 19 installments now. All of which are available on YouTube.

TheGhostMachinaMember16 Second Digital Delay reissue. I can’t say enough goodness about this looper. It easily integrated into my Ableton live setup, and I got some crazy tones from over driving the input section with some of my soft synths. And my HOG foot controller works great with it:)

P.S. The Monotron is pretty awesome to. I put it in the fx loop of my Boogie and use the blend on my amp to mix in the filters.
TheGhostMachinaMemberI agree with SMMwH… But I still love my Deluxe Memory Boy. Expression pedal, and an FX loop. And it’s right around your budget;)

TheGhostMachinaMemberThe easiest thing to do is get an effects loop pedal, like the Radial BigShot EFX, or the Boss Line selector. Put the POG2 in the fx loop, leave the POG2 engaged (on), and use the switch on the effects loop pedal to switch it in and out of your signal chain. This will also make your POG2 ‘true bypass’. If you like the Boss style footswitch, then I suggest going with the Boss Line Selector. The Radial BigShot EFX has two loops (so you can have another pedal in the other loop, or use it for silent tuning/muting), but doesn’t have an LED to let you know what loop is engaged at any given time.
Hope that helps,

You could set one for 1/4 notes, and the other for triplets. I do this with my DMB and Giga Delay, so I can play Edge type “Streets Have No Name” stuff as well as longer Gilmore style delays in the same song with out having to tweek anything. You can also get some pretty weird syncopated delays happening when you use them both at the same time;)

I don’t know what they actually used on the album. But you can get similar sounds depending on the synth you use to drive the vocoder. I use the vocoder setting on the VoiceBox, and run my guitar thru a Digitech Synth Wah, then to the instrument input of the VB. Most of the time people discribe that sound as a “talk box”, even tho’ it’s actually a vocoder.

P.S. I read yer post in the Tips section first, then this one just to see if they were any different;)
TheGhostMachinaMemberTry putting the reverb or chorus in the fx loop of the DMB. Each repeat from the DMB will become more verb’d/chorus’d. However, what ever you put in the fx loop will only effect the delay repeats, not your dry signal. I really like the Freeze in the fx loop. But I’ve had good times with my Whammy/POG2/HOG in the loop as well;)
