Hey Cryabetes.. Any idea why my Black Russian BMP sounds better thru my SMMwH, when I have the blend all the way CCW(dry)? I noticed it at the last rehearsal, but forgot about it until I read yer reply above.

    I second the delay recommendation.

They are both fantastic, and completely different. I have them both. I vote tie.

EHX Staff don’t regularly check this site. Contact them at info@ehx.com. We are mostly end users that like to talk about our gear.

XLR adaptor should not effect your tone at all. They are balance (3 conductor). If the connectors you are speaking of dont’t state balanced, then it’s a good chance they are not. However, regular 1/4 patch cables (instrument cable) are unbalanced (2 conductor) so I shouldn’t matter in your case. You may have seen the balanced version of a 1/4 cable with an extra ring. These are usually called TRS cables, which stands for Tip, Ring, Sleeve.

    Hope that helps.

Do you have midi sustain on? CC64 I think.. That can cause the mic to work “all time”. Try automating the sustain down at the end of your clip in Live.

I lucked out finding mine. I was mixing FOH for a local act on a little tour, and the production manager at one of the venues we played mentioned something about owning a BMP when he played guitar in the 80’s. I asked if he still had it and if he would like to sell it. He told me he’d have to find it and get back to me when tour was over. Two weeks later I got an email with photos of his pedal confirming it to be the V4 OpAmp. I offered $175CAD and he agreed.

I also check our local buy/sell/trade site, kijiji.ca (not sure if you guys have this in the USA). Last week I found a Black Russian (small version) for $80. That brings my total Muff count up to 5:). Next, I wanna try the Devi Ever Rocket (based on Rocket from Siamese Dream). Anyone heard one of these before? YouTube demos look amazing!

Def let us know how ya make out. It’s funny you mention the tone gen for service. I was looking at buying a Doepfer Dark Energy synth module. At the time I was trying to justify the purchase as a work related tool (I’m a sound tech by day). I eventually parted ways with my money on guitar pedals instead, but I’ve always wondered what the Dark Energy woulda sounded like setting the oscillator to 60Hz and side chaining it to the kick thru a Heritage 3K and a VDOSC pa.

Not that it will help, but you can check out my processed Mag guitar tracks, as well as my Mesa guitar tracks on a pre-release track from my upcoming album myspace.com/theghostmachia . All effects are EHX, including the Vocoder. Well, almost.. There’s a MXR phase 90 in there.. And a lil Crybaby from hell. Guitars aren’t hard panned, so it’s hard to tell one amp from the other. But the Mesa is a little more left, Mag a little more right. And there are a tone of layers a la Siamese Dream;)

    Hope it helps.

in reply to: Little Big Muff ground problem? #114999

Sounds like it may be a faulty unit. Neither my LBM, BMwTW, or V4 BMP make any noise when not engaged. Can you take it back to where you bought it for an exchange?

What’s your power supply? If it’s daisy chained, try using an adaptor exclusively with the LBM. Also, try a battery.

Are we talking effect engaged, sustain to the max, level just above noon?
