Cryabetes, hadn’t heard anything by Mogwai until I saw this post. So decided to check ’em out last night (while reading the history of the Big Muff). Before I knew it, I had listened to the whole album. And I can now confirm, you are correct, they are the best guitar driven band. Love those Muff sounds!

P.S. I downloaded your bubble gum ep (I think that’s what it’s called), and plan to listen to it as soon as I finish these last few shows in Ontario:)
TheGhostMachinaMemberI recently traded my Mesa Boogie Subway Rocket for a Rocket 4Forty. Same tone, just louder, with reverb and a sweet tremolo. I also have an Orange Microcrush for practicing on the road. And last week I picked up a 44 Magnum in Toronto. Running that thru a couple celestion 12″ is LOUD. It’s a nice alternative to the tube 4Forty.

TheGhostMachinaMemberHas this always been the case with your Memory Boy, or it this something new that has started recently?

October 29, 2010 at 4:00 pm in reply to: order all the EHX pedals you’ve owned from favorite to least favorite #112294TheGhostMachinaMemberThey are like children to me.. Hard to pick a favourite.. But here goes nothing..
1. HOG w/Preset Controller
2. POG2 – (I only use 1 setting, but it appears in most every song;)
3. Little Big Muff – (soon to be replaced with a Tone Wicker, but I’m keeping the LBM)
4. LPB-1 – (Sounds great with my Muff, even better into my Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret)
5. Deluxe Memory Boy – (replaced 3 different boss delays)
6. Voice Box – (I don’t use it on guitar, but it’s in all my songs)
7. Stereo Pulsar – (waiting on a second 44 Magnum to run my synths in stereo!)
8. Stereo Clone Theory – (I bought it for my GF for her birthday.. So it’s not mine, but I love it on her VK-7)
9. Dr. Q – (not my fav, but better when you know about the adjustable pot inside;)
10. 44 Magnum – (just bought it and haven’t played it yet, that’s why its at the bottom)
11. Micro Metal Muff – (no longer in my pedal board, bass player uses it now. But it’s still mine)And soon to be added to the list..
Stereo Memory Man with Hazari

Big Muff w/Tone WickerAnd I really want, but will never find in my part of the word

TheGhostMachinaMemberSearching previous forum posts is always a good idea before asking a question someone has answered already. I check this forum multiple times a day, and every time I see a power supply question (just about daily), EH Man has already beat me to the answer. He’s fast, and knows his stuff. And most of the time its info provided in the manuel. Professionals know all aspects of their work. Musicians just play.

TheGhostMachinaMemberJust a guess, but all the way up implies 100% reverb and no dry. Since reverb is a ‘time’ effect, you won’t hear your transient, just the reverb trails. This could be confused with ‘latency’, and I believe it to be normal. The same as turning your delay all the way up, giving you only the repeats and no direct sound.
Hope that makes sence:)

TheGhostMachinaMemberNah… I have the POG2 as well. I mainly use it for octafuzz type leads (think white stripes). The detune produces a really nice chorus sound. But I rarely use it. I think the HOG is what you’re looking for. Especially for the midi function. You can automate the expression via a midi sequencer, or midi pitchbend wheel on a keyboard. Using it with Ableton and Reason is mind blowing!
Hope that helps,

TheGhostMachinaMemberI use my HOG for all the things you described. I recommend the preset controller to:)

September 13, 2010 at 4:10 pm in reply to: Iron Lung – pedal chain placement or amp FX loop? #111385TheGhostMachinaMemberSorry, I was under the impression the iron lung had xlr out like the voicebox and v256. Istill think you should use it in front of your amp, opposed to the fx loop. The fx loop, depending on the amp you use, will allow you to dial in a blend of your fx’s and your dry tone. This means you will hear your guitar part as well as your vocoded part.
Sorry for the confusion.. Hope that cleared it up. Oh, and you are correct, you would require a TRs cableto run to a mixer (or di).

September 13, 2010 at 1:46 pm in reply to: Iron Lung – pedal chain placement or amp FX loop? #111383TheGhostMachinaMemberI would out it after any fx pedals. But I would run the xlr output to a console/PA, and not my amplifier. The Iron Lung may give you a similar effect as the talk box. But it won’t be the same. You may wanna check out the EHX Golden Throat, or the Rocktron talk box. Hope that helps.

TheGhostMachinaMemberI use an LBP-1 in front of my Catalinebread Dirty Little Secret. I find 9 o’clock is around unity for me. Fully counterclockwise there is no output (muted!) and as mentioned before, above 12 o’clock and you get a nice overdrive. I think you won’t be disappointed if you purchase this pedal.. Everyone should have one!

TheGhostMachinaMemberThanks Dark Axel! That was exactly what I was wondering. I’m planing on stacking it with my Big Muff and Guv’Nor, and likely run it at 18v. Should be here sometime this week, i cant wait!

TheGhostMachinaMemberHey DarkAxel,
How do you like the DLS? I saw your post in the lounge about it a few weeks ago. And I actually ordered one last night in navy blue. Hoping it gets here next week;)
