Congrats, Grim. Now you’re a winner. And what, you think you’re better than me now? JK. Have fun.

    Good. Try this:

    bass—->bass big muff—->flanger hoax—->cathedral reverb(in stereo, to SMMH)—->stereo memory man with H——>(in stereo to 2 Combo Amps).

Actually I just read that the Flanger Hoax has multiple output options. You’re all set here, and it will probably sound WICKED.

Thanks for this review. The 22 cal seems really awesome. I have a big old 5150 half-stack, I play so infrequently I will probably be well served to get one of these as my travel amp. I live in North Carolina but my favorite group of people to jam with is all in Phildalephia, so this would allow me to fly instead of driving 600 miles with my gear.

I’m not sure you want a pre-amp. The way the chain is described, all you need is some kind of stereo pedal, like a chorus maybe, that will go to each combo amp (as the combos already each have a preamp and power amp). Is the goal to send something direct to the P.A.? Those DI boxes you mentioned, I don’t think either is stereo. I know the Sansamp is not.

The Bass Big Muff, Cathedral and SMMH all have dual outputs. I don’t know about the flanger hoax but others do. You seem to have all the tools necessary to do what you’re describing.

Use the Boss EV5. Read my whole review here: https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewthread/3153/

The Behringer fx pedals are often joke-worthy but I’m a big fan of the mixers and the direct boxes. I recorded these demos http://soundcloud.com/sim-tut/absynth-smmh all through a Behringer GI100 di box, with the box between my amp head and cabinet, instead of from the line out. Also got a cable tester for like $25, when all the other cable testers run over $100 at least. I also have the Bass synth pedal (a toy), and the Reverb pedal (a joy!). So like most companies some stuff is good, some stuff bad, but almost always worth a shot because of the price. I’ll take the GI100 over the $200 SansAmp I used to own any day.

Which reverb is that? Any good? I have the vintage delay (analog delay for £20!!!) and the vibrato pedal which… well… it makes the pitch go up and down like a vibrato is supposed to.

    Behringer aint all that bad!

(just for the record I do own three EHX pedals too :p)

It’s the RV600 Reverb Machine. I bought it specifically for use with my wife’s keyboards. I had one of the Vintage Time Machines (the “Memory Man clone”) but it was too big for what it did and frankly I have always preferred digital delay/reverb. But the RV600 is so far really cool, and cheap. My wife doesn’t play enough to spend a mint on pedals for her setup, so with her Casio, I use the aforementioned BSY bass synth, a Dano Tuna Melt tremolo (replaced on my board by the Ring Thing), a classic Boss FT2 Dynamic Filter (One of my faves but supplanted by a Q-Tron+), and the RV600.

    Fuck you with your “it”.

Hog and Pog are digital and have the option to store presets. Microsynths are all analog and have no preset function.

I think its called the Ring Thing, and I got one! It does everything the whammy can and more, in polyphony. Read the review here: https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewthread/3153/

in reply to: Who have you been to see recently? #107917

Last show was Them Crooked Vultures in Charlotte, NC and it was great. Me and another bearded guy almost killed this one dude though. Way too drunk and annoying so early in the show. Prior to that was Monster Magnet in NJ. Next one will be Lightning Bolt in July. Last summer I saw My Bloody Valentine, Shudder To Think, and TV on the Radio within a one week span.

here are some very Minimalist oscillations from the Flanger Hoax manipulated with a Memory Boy and a Stereo Pulsar. The were inspired by the Stanley Kubrick film 2001;A Space Odyssey . You can click on my pics to see some of my Paintings as well, I hope you enjoy the subtlety and grandeur of the Flanger Hoax.

from reading this, i thought, wouldnt it be a cool sound with a 22 cal. cranked up runnin vocals!

Yikes. That’s a power amp. The cool sound would probably be of firetrucks racing to his house if he put that into his Kaoss pad.

in reply to: what type of music do you play? #90513

Good stuff man. Well recorded too. I’ve heard other stuff of yours posted on here before but I listened to the first two now. Every Door is a great song, please accept my compliments.

Every so often I see a ‘Post your music’ thread but I wonder if people are really checking out all the cool music that isn’t totally jammed down their throats. This is not an indictment against pop or commercial music at all. “Single Ladies” has been playing constantly in my head jukebox since I heard it two years ago, but there are way better songs that we never hear. Worse, there are great songs that we do hear because of communities like this, and still don’t pay attention. So pay attention! Fender&EHX4ever;has good tunes. Julian has some really cool noise punk with one of his projects, and alot of you have good music that should be heard too. Take 4 minutes and listen to something new, and post your own stuff. Don’t be shy.

On that subject, here’s one of my projects, The Killyous http://www.myspace.com/thekillyous. I play bass and sing here. Band is inactive now because I moved but those are my brothers and I like the songs we recorded. On “Dynamito” I did the spoken part from BoyzIIMen’s End of the Road because they had that part in all their songs and it always cracked me up because they were so sincere. Can’t always be too serious. If you can’t find the humor in your music somebody else will. Rudely.

in reply to: LPB-1 Preamp boost on vocals? #94640

Doesn’t sound ideal. It would probably work in regards to getting a sound through but you should use an appropriate mic preamp so you can have control over volume at least, and probably eq.
