TeleuteMemberQuote:What are you using for software/soundcard on yer PC?
its an m audio fasttrack ultra.
we used to feed the guitar and bass back out to separate amps and mic them up, but now we just use amp sims, its a lot less kit to carry and set up
we use ableton for the drum loops and as a VST effect host. The looping is done with some VST plugins I built in synthedit as ableton wasn’t quite set up how we liked to work. Helen the singer does a lot of vocal looping and effects as well, so she also goes through the laptop.
TeleuteMemberOk well the guitar goes into the whammy, the dry signal from this then goes to the micro pog, the bass muff, then to part one of the double kill switch, which is the metal one at the bottom of the board marked G/B, this then goes off the board into a soundcard, and this is how I play bass.
the wet signal from the whammy goes to the switcher box which is just above it, this then goes off the board to another input on the soundcard.
loop one of the switcher goes to the big muff, the boss chorus, part two of the double kill switch, the delay, then the AMT distortion/preamp.
loop two of the switcher goes to the ring thing.
The switcher lets me put the ring thing either before or after the other effects, as I found the pitch shift worked better before distortion and the ring mod works better after it. It also lets me remotely bypass the ring thing so that I can have it up on a table and geek out with the dials whilst I’m playing and still turn in on and off from the board.
So all this goes through the PC which I use for looping the guitar and bass signal separately and adding other effects, this is all controlled by the large unit in the middle which is a midi controller. I also use this to trigger samples and different drum loops.
as for the mods, the extra button on the delay lets me have full feedback when I engage it, the switch on the chorus removes the dry signal so it become a vibrato / filter. The big muff mod is a secret I shall take to the grave
Here’s a clip of my band, granted you cant really see a lot but there’s no backing tracks, everything is done live all from this rig http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Op0BRI-nsg
We tried playing to backing tracks when we started and it was so dull we gave up immediately, so instead I go in stage with this, have a tiny nervous break down that I’m going to hit the wrong button and much more fun is had by all.
