Brown Finger, Small Face???
StephengilesMemberThe preamp was almost identical to that of the Dirt Road Special. I think the bite control was a mid frequency booster.
StephengilesMemberThat is the original 6 stage version which used 6 the now very hard to get 2N4302 FETs. I heard that a 4 stage version was suggested, to be called the Bad Face, but then I also heard that the Black Finger was originally to be called the “Brown Finger”!!

yeah the space drum isn’t exactly exciting it just goes ‘ppeeoooww’ when you hit it!!!
Yes, but Joe Truchess made some very simple but clever circuitry for that unit. If you get one, just hope that it doesn’t need a replacement CA3094!!

StephengilesMemberThe speaker quoted on the circuit diagram is Celestion Motel G12M. I built the preamp and used it with a 100 watt power amp I bought. I bought a Session 2 x 10 cabinet and it was a fine amp with plenty of poke – still sitting under my printer no more than 3 feet fromwhere I am sitting.
