…Or a Jaguar… Must be one of the shortscale Fenders…Shortscale out of necessity, Fender out of damn good taste…
StankerbellMemberMy guitars:
NONE:freak:
My mandolins:
Eastwood Mandocaster in black
Epiphone Mandobird VIII in sunburst (the old, rich sunburst that actually looks like a Firebird, not the new yellow-y crap)
No-name mandolin/banjo hybrid [under construction (called a “manjo” or a “banjolin” or sometimes just “mandolin banjo”)] retrofitted with a mini-neck humbucker, a transducer, an LP style switch, and Tele style knobs (V/V/T). Knobs and switch are located on either side of the neck (switch/tone/neck/volume/volume) on the resonator.I’m in the process of finding a beaten-to-death Mustang so I can mod it to be an octave mandolin, too…
StankerbellMember1.) Big Muff into Small Stone
2.) Small stone into Stereo Pulsar (using the stereo outs, of course)
3.) Big Muff into Stereo Pulsar (depth all the way up, shape all the way to the right, rate at noon, triangle wave setting–stereo or mono–just sounds good (my guitarist and I figured out the Baba O’riley keyboard intro on my electric mando, which spawned my figuring out how to play power chords on a mandolin for the rest of the song)]StankerbellMemberBlink 182? Gross. They helped to almost snuff out the life of punk-rock. They were one of the reasons that all the “punk” bands on the radio (which in itself is a total oxymoron) sound like schoolgirls playing daisy rock guitars.
StankerbellMemberQuote:And yeah, the Blue Box is amazing. Just got one…In a way I sold my Micro Synth for it. Mine’s modded so the volume drop isn’t quite as bad and it’s a bit more fuzzy.Guess how many mods my EHX pedals need to be loud…
NONE.
StankerbellMemberQuote:Quote:Quote:Quote:Quote:Quote:Any thoughts?Yup, my thoughts are…..
MXR used to be a fantastic pedal company until it was bought by dunlop, now it’s pretty average.
Gotta agree with you there. The newer stuff is getting better, if they’ll just focus on exact reissues and quit worrying about selling EVH and Zakk Wylde garbage. Also, it would be nice to see a true fuzz that doesn’t have Jimi Hendrix’s name all over it.
Man…EHX dudes are just as vicious and whiny as mandolin players.
Vicious? Nah. I think that we’re being quite civil. It’s the internet, so sometimes the tone in which we’re speaking doesn’t come through all the way. I’ve taken a playful smart alec voice through most of the thread.
And as for the MXR stuff- I agree with that. All the signature stuff is just so lame.
I know a mandolin player and I’ll assure you, I’m nothing like that guy. I really can’t stand him.
*Cough* Ahem. I play heavy Met-o-line thank you.
There’s one right behind me isn’t there?
:doh:Yes. There is. My rig: Eastwood Mandocaster (primary), Epiphone Mandobird VII (secondary), Sunn Solarus 2×12 (40 watts) plus a Sunn 1×15 ported cab. Between the mando’s and the Sunns are a few EHX pedals, and nothing else. We are everywhere. GUITARISTS: tune ’em in 5ths, shorten the scale length to less than half, double string ’em, and fit you fingers on a fretboard an inch wide, and tell me you wouldn’t be vicious.
StankerbellMemberQuote:i prefer ehx over dunlop/mxr except for the crybaby and the phase 100 (only dunlop/mxr i own though) and i love both of them. i can’t really find a phaser that i like besides the phase 100, except until i try out a small stoneTry putting a near-dead battery in the Small Stone when you get it. That made mine make some STRANGE sounds one day at recording session. That pedal is actually why I joined this forum in the first place! [By the way, the guy who started this thread is playing my Small Stone in the recording I am talking about. Steals my Big Muff, steals my Small Stone… Strikes 1 and 2. I’m waiting to come home from work (we are roomies as well as bandmates) and find him playing through my Stereo Pulsar or something so I can put this MXR business to rest.]
StankerbellMemberQuote:The Blue Box is the best pedal mxr makes, with or without the volume drop.Just thought I’d throw that out there. Put it before a big muff and you have some killer Grunge Fuzz.
He steals my Big Muff to do that. He’s just misinformed on the proper side of the subjectivity that the good Doctor mentioned. I plan on adding a Memory Boy to my board, so I’ll just prove him wrong as soon as I get the chance.
StankerbellMemberSorry, guys. That’s my guitarist. He’s going to all this trouble just to kinda piss me off.

Our frontman needs something like that to happen to him. He gets so in to being the frontman that he forgets how to play his guitar sometimes (could be the beer). He’ll suddenly remember how to play his guitar, and it will sound AMAZING. It would be wonderful if I could control his sound… Especially during the times when he remembers how to play… Plus, my stage persona is all about annoying him as much as possible… I do think that’s starting to carry over into everyday life, too, though… Should make touring fun…
StankerbellMemberQuote:…I would love to see a tube powered rotary speaker, and a tube powered cassette-tape delay/modulator :love:A rotary would be absolutely fantastic. Also, why not just a simple, old school tape delay? A real one–like all the companies are trying to make via digital means. I do agree that digital FX are fun and can make wonderful sounds, but nobody needs to drop analog. Especially not EHX.

God knows EHX could and should make the best one on the market. Not like the cheap annoying ones that only have the one antenna, either. Both controls. Volume and pitch. My band uses one through a delay. Unfortunately, our guitarist is an MXR dork and doesn’t have the stones to step up to the big pedal plate, but a theremin through a delay sounds AMAZING for anything psychedelic or prog-ish. So… A theremin with a built in delay (with a bypass for the delay, of course)? Hmm?
StankerbellMemberWhat would be the local dealer? I’m stuck in frickin’ Arkansas, and dealers for anything but shotguns and car parts are hard to find. We have a Guitar Center. Would they have it?

Or better yet, a tube tuner. Maybe it can also have germanium transistors and a built in mini-Van De Graff Generator. (speaking of 60s rock). ;pNow THOSE are sexy ideas.
You’re right, Fbanks88. You caught me. Metal Reggae all the way. My mandolin fits in perfectly. :metal:

I play a tiny instrument, so I like to compensate with my amps and pedals being kinda big… Also, what about throwing those two special controls from the Germanium OD onto a few more things… For that matter, why not the germanium transistor? (Guess who loves ’60s rock!)
