I would rather not use a boost to do this. Although the pedal is noisy up front its pretty silent in the fx loop and the randall guys tell me that all pedals on this rig are quiet in the fx loop but the line level shifter solves the problem completley

well i just read through it all. I have everything that guy did too. I isolated it from my chain, the noise was still present. I dont have a very trebely setup, im using monster cables (tho i tried a cheapy too, it sounded a bit worse but nothing drastic), and it makes noise on every channel, unbearably so. I also tried it on my cheapy practice amp- god that sounded awful. In that thread they do say that the fx loop would help, and i believe it. When i put the pedal through the front, it makes the noise, even at low volumes. Now when i put it in the fx loop, the volume decreases but he nois disappears almost entirely, in fact i thought it was gone until i rrreeeallly listened. Now if i put it back up front and lower the volume on the amp to try to get it the same as the previous scenario, i still get the noise.

So…im pretty sure this pedal has a bit of noise. I understand that its analog and stuff thats all fine, its not making me dislike the pedal. Any place with reviews will tell ya over and over again it has a lot of noise, i just want it gone.

ive tried it on three different guitars, i dunno hum is the technical term. Ground noise. Loud, but not through the fx loop.

If it’s before it in the chain then it shouldn’t add noise, if it’s after it, it may.

ive just been told it goes before the chain. this is starting to look like a solution.

Slightly unrelated note- is it just my ears of does the pedal really color my tone?

Yeah tried using both outputs, sounded the same. Ive been told on the randall forums that our fx loop is for rack effects and our effects have a different power rating or something so i need a ebtech line level shifter to bring up the volume to counter it. I just hope that wont bring the ground noise back.
