Also, I’d be willing to bet $5 that the Memory Boy’s appearance on that desk was not by accident. You guys love toying with us, don’t you?
SiriustarMemberWell, from what I understand, this pedal is more than just a tiny replica of the Memory Man– more than just a Micro POG, so to speak. The three-way switches is where I’m guessing new stuff comes in. Perhaps a switch that allows you to make the repeats continue and fade out after you’ve turned off the pedal, somewhat like the Subdecay Echobox? Perhaps one of the three-way switches lets you use an expression pedal. As for the knobs, I’m inclined to agree with Fender&EHX4ever;.
Note that there are two output jacks, but the pedal’s title does not have the word “Stereo” in it. Very interesting….
I think perhaps I will create a new thread devoted to those of us that love to speculate on coming pedals, particularly the Memory Boy. That way this Screaming Bird/Mole thread can be for the Screaming Bird and The Mole!
I’m excited for those pedals, too. And I LOVE the idea of engineers explaining what’s going on with the pedals.
SiriustarMemberAlright! It’s Monday!
…
I should get some sleep. Can’t wait for the news, though.
SiriustarMemberNo, they’re photosensors. When their is sufficient light, it’s like a regular expression pedal. As you cover the sensor, blocking light, it’s like you’re pushing an expression pedal forward. When you completely block it, it’s like an expression pedal all the way forward.
It’s kind of hard to explain. Sorry.
SiriustarMemberAw, really? I’m surprised so many people use stock… not that there’s anything wrong with stock.
If you have doubts about a guitar, but really want to like it, I recommend switching the pickups out for Lollars. I almost sold my FrankenStrat, but then I switched out the middle and bridge for Lollar Blackfaces (the neck was already really freakin’ sweet), and now I wouldn’t dream of selling it.
Might get a new neck for it though. Either a really fat neck with a maple fretboard (current is rosewood), or perhaps a baritone conversion neck. Anyone here play a bari?
SiriustarMemberQuote:Thanks for the review. I’ve been very tempted to get one so i could add a small modulation device to my board. Is their any volume drop with any of the modes? Does the range knob control the level of the effect?I haven’t really noticed a volume drop.
What the range does is lets you control the amount of the frequency spectrum that is affected by the pedal. So as you turn it up, you do indeed hear more of the effect. So I suppose the answer is yes.
SiriustarMemberQuote:question:can you control the speed of the effect with the expression pedal somehow or does it only control the range?
You don’t really control the range with the expression pedal. You control the sweep. All the way back, it’s your dry signal, and as you push forward, the filter starts to sweep and “opens up” until it’s all the way forward. Where your range knob is determines how “open” the filter is when your expression pedal is completely depressed. You can’t control the rate, although that would be pretty cool. You can move your foot faster or slower… that’s sort of like controlling the rate.
SiriustarMemberQuote:Quote:I’m happy to see that the SMMH is so popular. It’s a truly wonderful pedal, IMO.indeed! it’s really fantastic, and the ability to loop delayed sounds is so great
That’s exactly why I sold my Akai E2 Headrush to get it! Well, that and all of its other amazing features.
SiriustarMemberDefinitely worth it.
SiriustarMemberLet’s see, right now I suppose my top 5 (not necessarily in this order) would be:
1. Tower of Rome
2. Deerhoof
3. Duke Ellington
4. M. Ward
5. Regina SpektorI know it might seems like I’m just choosing these artists because they’re so mismatched, and I want to appear eclectic, but that’s not the case, I assure you.
SiriustarMemberI certainly would, if I had decent camera equipment.
I suppose I could just record audio and match it up with pictures, but that’s kind of lame.
SiriustarMemberYou are truly a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you!
SiriustarMemberI’m happy to see that the SMMH is so popular. It’s a truly wonderful pedal, IMO.
SiriustarMemberReally? Can they improve that much on the 2880? Well, I suppose we’ll just wait and see….
SiriustarMemberQuote:Quote:No, it’s a Lyle. I sold it, actually. I’m kind of thinking about getting a Gretsch to fill the hollowbody void in my life.Gretsch guitars are awesome, i highly recommend one for a hollowbody. i have the G5120 and i really like it.
My only real reservation is the neck. Whenever I play one, the neck feels kind of thin to me, and I’m more of a big, fat neck fan. Perhaps I’ll just have to get used to it. Might fit it with some TV Jones pups, too.
