Hey, guys. I’ve got the equipment. I’m going to really study this Flanger Hoax, and I should have some demos up (of the FH and other things) within a couple days.

Can do. I think I’ll wait until I have a substantial amount of requests before making these demos, though. Maybe six or seven requests? I suppose we’ll see how much interest there is.

Come on man, you want we should throw flowers in your path so you feel appropriately appreciated? Make with them demos! We’ll bring beer and ladies. :poke: And yes the Hoax would be the best thing to do first. Thanks!

Ha, no, I just want to have a good amount of stuff to do before I borrow the equipment that I’ll need to make good demos, so I don’t have to borrow it again and again, y’know?

I’ll see about making a pulsar demo in stereo, too. I think Larry Demarco already made a demo in stereo, but I’ll do it, if you want.

I totally know what you mean. I tend to starting thinking of how good things can be just in terms of the amount of knobs and switches, and I forget that a lot of other people don’t care for that type of stuff.

I’ve think that the difference between the Screamin’ Bird, the Mole, and the LPB-1 is minimal. They could probably stick all three into the same pedal, and just have a “dark, normal, bright” switch on it. I know, I know, “but then you wouldn’t be able to have all three!”

I breadboarded the LPB-1 in, like, two minutes. Really simple, but sounds really good.

I’m definitely all about space-saving, so my vote goes to the XO line. They’re so rugged and uniform, too! So easy to align perfectly, so easy to control.

I suppose I should stop, before I make a transformation into a Randian villain.

While I don’t own a Mesa, I do know that they are quite nice. For me (and my budget), though, there’s nothing more classic than the Fender tube sound.

As for the OD, the Muff’n is something that I’m tempted to get myself. John Frusciante uses one, actually. The demos sound amazing, and so do all the reviews. For OD now, though, I use a Barber LTD, and it’s really transparent, so if you like your clean sound, you’ll love the LTD. Gets that second harmonic crunch, like a tube amp. Love it.

As for a fuzz, you might want to look into an octavia of some sort. If you’re into soldering at all, you can get a Tycobrahe Octavia clone kit from General Guitar Gadgets for pretty cheap. It has a switch to remove the octave sound, as well. A Bass Big Muff is an excellent alternative, too, if you want a thicker fuzz.

For the phase I’d just go with the Small Stone. Probably the XO one, though. Very tiny footprint, and I think the exact same circuitry, or close to it.

For my rotary sound, I find that the phase setting on my XO worm sounds really f’n good! That pedal also has vibrato, tremolo and auto-wah, with an EXP pedal out, so that might be something to look into.

And +1 on the Memory Man w/ Hazarai. I love mine.

For a funk type of a project, you may want to look into a nice compressor (Pigtronix’s Philosopher’s Tone is nuts!), and maybe a Microsynth, or something. Or maybe the POG2, when it hits the shelves. Have fun!

It’s certainly a challenge, but I’ve got nothing but gigs this Summer, so my weekdays are pretty free.

It’d totally be my dream job to demo EHX pedals. Just send of each of the new line over to me, Scott, and you’ll have awesome, in-depth demos, with HQ recording, and all that stuff within a week!

I could even take requests on what sort of settings people want to see from the forum. Or maybe songs that they want to hear recreated through the pedals. Oh, man, I’m getting too excited thinking about how awesome that’d be.

Start with what you’ve got! :poke:

    Haha.

    Now I’m going to.

I’m going to post a thread in the trick, clips, etc. forum, where people can request songs or settings for the EHX pedals that I have.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. It’s much more likely that it’s the bypass than it being the digital-ness.

+1 on Saunier. I’ll check out Shelley.

Pop punk is pretty much an oxymoron. I mean, taste in music is subjective and whatnot, but it’s really difficult for me to see the merit in that stuff. Especially the whiny, nasally vocals. Ugh.

Back when I was in high school, I remember a lot of my punk/goth friends being all “OMG GREEN DAY IS AWESOME!!!1,” and me, being the tool that I was, was like, “yeah!…” but despite all my trying, I could never bring myself to like them. There’s more to songs than being catchy, IMO. At the same time, I certainly don’t think technical skill = talent. I suppose I’m being difficult. That’s why it’s subjective, I guess.

I agree with Pablo on this one– they are instruments in themselves (at least the more complex effects). I keep my Barber LTD on almost constantly to enhance my tone, and then I have some different flavors of distortion/fuzz when I want to kick it up. I recently go the XO Worm, and it has a lot of options, but the effects are subtle enough that they can’t cover up a bad riff, only add to good riffs to make them better. Overall, I’d say that it depends on the user. For me, more is more. I find that pedals make me want to play and inspire me to write things, if for nothing else than to justify keeping them.
