Ok, I don’t know if anyone could be interested, I have no idea how many thereminists use pedals and frequent this forum, but just in case, we never, what the hell !

So I bought and tried the Ravish Sitar with my Moog etherwave theremin. Why buy this specific pedal ? Well imagine you have a theremin that sounds like a sitar… that’s about it, it sounded real good fun. But I did not expect all those possibilities.
Yes whatever you do, your theremin will sound at least sitarish, but the extend of the possible use lies in the fact that :
    – it can act almost like a pitch corrector, giving a lot of attack on specified notes (there are sttings to chose a major or exotic mode for example, in A, B, C,…)
    – You can apply the effect with a LOT of variation on the note played, which is why I got this pedal in the first place, and it goes from a mild discreet sitar to an almost distorted sitar, this is really cool
    – and another surprise are those sympathetic notes that play (yes alone) even with a completly dry sound of the theremin. those sympathetic notes can actually be the “soul” of the sitar sound. so you have your normal theremin sound with those subtle notes flying around, giving a whole new ambiance.

Well, I’m loving it, it is really good fun. granted, you cannot use it on any kind of music sinci it sounds very oriental. but even on non-oriental-sounding-songs, with a low setting on those sympathetic notes, you get a very interesting effect.

SO the Ravish Sitar is a big YES, it is a very nice addition for a thereminist. Might not be a vital one, the Stereo Talking Machine would be way more useful, but it is great fun, very versatile and interesting.
    Thumbs up

Regarding the EHX Stereo Talking Pedal

I have been trying that pedal for a couple of weeks now, tweeking through all its functions, and I can say that indeed it is a nice one to be used with a theremin.
The “Ahh” is the main vocal effect you get, the one that will resemble the most a human voice, but you can get very nice sounds out of the other presets.
This is an excellent pedal if you wish to experience new sounds with your theremin, and you can even set your own settings into 9 presets (replacing the factory presets) that can be then easily accessed with the footswitch.
So this is pretty cool to use, and you get plenty fun sounds.

    Hello,
yes I understand that all pedals will work with a theremin, but some are so in neeed of an attack (ie when working with a guitar) that it doesn’t render much with a theremin.
I know, for having one, that the Stereo Talking Machine is a nice addition for a thereminist, very fun, and that was the point of this post, to know if appart the reverb, delay and such pedals, some can be as fun and useful as the STM. And if thereminists have tried them.
a big question would be on the C9 organ for example, the Sitar pedal,… such things
    thank you
