Regarding “Reelin’ in the Years” — and very sorry if this is a somewhat dorky port — that said, one of the neatest gifts I ever received was this short clip recorded by Elliott Randall (he played the original solo on “Reelin'”):

I haven’t actually thought about it for some time, and your post reminded me, so thanks!
Quote:+1 on Maggot Brain and There’s a Riot Going On. That’s a pretty mean list altogether but those two are bone deep.Agreed — I included Otis, Al, Aretha, and Stevie to provide a broader spread of classic soul, whereas Maggot Brain and There’s a Riot are more funk-rocking, hard, insane masterpieces — the others are absolutely awesome too, but in different ways.

Funkadelic, “Maggot Brain”
Sly & Family Stone, “There’s a Riot Going on”
Otis Redding, “Dictionary of Soul”
Aretha Franklin, “I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You”
Al Green, “Call Me”
Stevie Wonder, “Talking Book”
I could go on, but (imho)that’s a pretty solid start…
I’ve been recommended Maggot Brain before. I need to check it out.
Of the albums I listed, Maggot Brain is the most guitar oriented — and the guitar solo on the title track (imho) is one of the very greats.
Am I going to have to get a private chat room for you two? 😆

It’s fun to read down this thread — a lot of my faves are listed (though, imho, the funk/soul world remains underrepresented, so I’ll toss in: Parliament, Funkadelic, Sly & Family Stone, James Brown, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Frankin, etc.)
It’s also neat how many of these bands have iconic EHX connections (perhaps most obvious are Screaming Trees and Mudhoney, who named themselves or albums after EHX) — but, just from those listed above, there are plenty of obvious EHX connections to Beck, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson, Radiohead, ZZ Top, David Bowie, The Ramones, Smashing Pumpkins, White Stripes — and I’m sure you could help add more connections…
Quote:Tom Waits. Worth mentioning are Seasick Steve, Marilyn Manson, Radiohead and ZZ Top.Funny, I actually posted Seasick Steve to the EHX blog a while back (I hadn’t heard of him before that, just liked his schtick and groove):
Quote:I don’t know about the original pulsar, but definetly the tube one.as to the other question, F&ehx;might be able to help you there, he’s a big fan of puretube designs.
There is no tube Pulsar — I think you mean the Wiggler?
Gearmanndude has some of the best boots on YouTube — fwiw, he also posts EHX videos including this one of the Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker:

I don’t think we’re dropping any bomb — the most buzz right now is Voice Box, but we’ll be showing lots of other stuff to.
fwiw, I just posted a little bit to the blog (mostly to get our booth number up there):

That’s EHXmas.
This is fun, the Voice Box just got blogged on Boing Boing:
Quote:can you link me to a forum that has this feature so I can understand exactly what you are suggesting? It may or may not be possible, but if I can see how it works I will make sure it is brought to the attention of Scott, who will then see if it’s possible and if seems a good/practical idea to add the feature to the forum.
I think I understand the request — that you can jump to the oldest post within a thread that came after your last visit — a somewhat more complicated implementation would be to track each thread you’ve viewed independently (though I doubt many forums behave that way b/c of the overhead).
But basically I’m at the mercy of the features of this particular forum — we can sometimes justify custom coding, but not always — and I think this forum’s default behavior is to jump you to the “most recent” post, and I don’t think that there’s a built-in mechanism to jump to the “oldest post since my last visit” — but I’ll ask the next time I’m chatting with the devs…
