I’m going to assume they are harder to find in Europe than America, but if you were really hard for one you could get one from the states. I’ve seen a few 4x12s come up in the past four months or so, and one 2×12. I wouldn’t mind unloading my 4×12 either, but that’s another story.
I wish I knew more, but knowing anything about Sovtek amps is lucky enough. Too bad there isn’t more concrete, comprehensive info about them.
ScienceFrictionMemberYeah, it just doesn’t seem to have enough clarity, maybe muddiness it’s hard to tell. It’s my first Big Muff so maybe I’m just confused as to what is clarity with a Big Muff! I’ll have to take apart the pedal to get a good shot of the circuit board, but I’ll do that sometime soon, I pm’d you about it though. I like having definition and smoothness because I play more blues and some hard rock, not really high gain sort of music. Really though, I dig the pedal, it sounds great through my Mig 30. I’m going to plug it in now and play around with a bit more before I open it up for potential surgery. I can’t tell if the pms are working, nothing comes up in my sent box. Oh well, I’ll worry about it once I get some pictures of the circuit board.
ScienceFrictionMemberHey Liberty Belle those links in your first post are not working, did they become passe in light of Kitrae’s Big Muff site? Which is great by the way!
Anyway, I have a V6 Big Muff myself that I just got fixed, definitely a lot of fun. I think Kitrae’s description on his site is pretty good, mine definitely does not work with chords. However, I find it sits nicely between smooth and fuzzy, and is a very nice Muff. The tone control is also very responsive, and the tone bypass is nice too. Unfortunately, like all things I seem to like, there isn’t really many demos of this model. While I do like my V6, is there any other owners out there? Does anyone find there possible improvements for it, or preferred applications?
ScienceFrictionMemberThere is a guy from Russia who has been selling Sovtek amps on ebay recently, maybe you could ask him about sovtek cabs?
I’m trying to find out more about my Mig 30, it doesn’t look another I’ve seen, and I’m sure it’s different from other Mig 50s too. Yeah, the myths and mystery behind these amps are cool, but it can be stressful when you’re trying to figure what you’ve got on your hands especially if it needs work. Still, I love the sound of it and don’t see the need to replace it with a Bassman anytime soon.
ScienceFrictionMemberNo one? I guess there isn’t much interested here about Sovtek amps.
ScienceFrictionMemberHi, new here, hope it’s okay to bring up an old topic. I’m a Sovtek Mig 30 owner myself, love it! I play it with a matching 4×12 Sovtek cab which also sounds very good. Tony Bruno designed the Mig 50 (so in essence the Mig 30) right? I was thinking about emailing him about the amp and trying to get more info about it in general. All I know is it sounds great. I bridge the channels myself, definitely turns it from a clean machine into a growler.
