SanquiFlerbMemberQuote:Isn’t there a solution to rewind the tap back when in bypass, if that is possible it would still be verry usefull
that seems complicated. also, what if you want it on for more than 30′? It might sound ilogical to modern music, but I see it’s an impediment
SanquiFlerbMemberdon’t put the sliders full on. if you’re using 2 different octaves mix them 50%/50%, or 33%/33%/33% and so on, depending the number of octaves you’ll blend. from there, you can put more/less from each octave to accentuate them.
SanquiFlerbMemberQuote:It also doesn’t help that we have a non-participating Super Admin. What happened with that? didn’t someone came a few months back to get this running again?
SanquiFlerbMembertry to use less volume on each octave and on the original octave. that should solve it.
SanquiFlerbMemberQuote:Quote:Quote:Yeah, you have said that before, and I’m curious how it would work. Aren’t cassette tapes designed so the tape is exposed only at one small point? How would the tape delay be able to record and read the signal simultaneously? I guess I see how you could do a short, 1 repeat reverse delay, but beyond that, I don’t see how cassette tapes could be used in a delay framework. If you worked it out tho’, I’d def get one, since I have a bunch of old cassettes taking up space.
Actually, a cassette recorder has 2 heads: the playback and the recording heads. Some high end ones have 3 heads so you can actually hear what you’re recording in real time.
So I was putzing around with a microcassette recorder at work today (because I want to be Dale Cooper, obviously) and I realised microcassettes have two readable spots on them because the head is offset from the center of tape (ie, they have the backing felt under each roller rather than just in the center).
Since my company is moving towards digital audio recording solutions, i’m going to have a fair number of players/recorders/decks at my disposal- any DIY guys/forumers want to make one of these into a tape delay with a lovely -70db noise floor? it’s looking like it’ll be easier than a VCR or walkman-based delay.
I see that everyone misses something: a cassette is not a tape loop. the tape ends at some point. it would work for a fair amount of time (30 mins, but depends on the tape), but then you’ll have to flip the tape to keep using it. No big deal for me, but idk, my 2 cents
SanquiFlerbMemberthis is good indeed
SanquiFlerbMemberQuote:SanquiFlerb – is there a prize to win? Or are you trying to smart me out?I think the search results has several downsides.
The subject is shortened if the subject is long.
Depending what keywords you search for there are just too many uninteresting results.
For me there is just too much data and bad styling presented in the results it gets tiresome. The most important though is that I dont want to miss out a thread about my interest just because I made a search with the wrong keyword. I also have an interest to be active and post at places where i know others with the same interest are.
Not being smart, but lately nobody searchs for anything on here. Everybody asks questions without looking at the website, for example “how can I contact EHX?”. You can always check new posts also, or try several keywords. Usually, old threads are old and nobody cares about them. If you feel like posting something interesting/doubts about ehx gear/anything else or OT just post it. If it has been posted before, you’ll see that post without doing that much search.
Remember that the search function its almost useless on pretty much every forum.
Cheers

SanquiFlerbMemberthat’s why there is a search function: to find things on the forum and on the site

where can i send it to have it restored? its about 11 years old and i am the original owner. It may not need anything more than an alignment. I designed it, so I certainly can fix it.

SanquiFlerbMemberI use my russian muff with a little bit of gain on the amp. It’s weird, cuz when the muff is off I can’t notice a difference between no gain and that little bit of gain, but with the muff it’s very noticeable
