I am aware that the current clone theory is analog maybe i should have gone into more detail it just sounds metalic and maybe correct me if iam wrong (because iam no expert!) is it digital producing analog chorus & vibrato? My point why i started this topic is because my friend has the previous model of the holy grail (he also being a more experienced guitarist and having more knowledge on effects!) and i have the nano holy grail we tried them out side by side and we agreed there is little difference in sound if anything the nano sound a little better! I just cant understand why ehx cant make all the nano and xo series as good as their predecessors!!!!

It’s fully analog, but it isn’t as warm as the older version, and as the small clone. Sometimes they upgrade and sometimes to improve they have to downgrade. Look at the deluxe memory man and the memory toy/boy: the memory man uses panasonic chips (a small new old stock batch) while the boy/toy series uses the chinese replica of the panasonicMN series. (Or that’s what I read somewhere arround here). We all want the best quality on the pedals, but sometimes what we’ve got is the best we have.

First off, the clone theory is analog. if it sounds “cold” or “digital”, that’s just the way it sounds. If you want the RI to sound just like the originals, then you need the original ICs and so on. If you don’t care about the pedal’s sound not being equal to the original version then I don’t understand your point. But I have to agree with you: some RI aren’t as good as the originals.

    It’s ok :)

analogue or digital honestly doesn’t make much difference in my experience – as long as the power supply has enough output to power all the pedals that are hooked up, of course; having a few high current draw, modern digital pedals can easily put a strain on a One Spot

this. sometimes I summarize (if that’s the word) too much and I make a few omisions on what I say. I apologize guys.

    what? why the hostility sanquiflerb?

Which hostility? you mean with ignore this? maybe I should have said “ignore this post”. Instead of editing my first post I clicked on quote, and I quote myself, so the second post is surplus.

THE PROBLEM comes when you have pedals that have positive ground and negative ground daisy chained together.

    This is what I ment.

sorry for late response. you can daysichain 9vdc +(o- pedals and use the 2 12v outs with a special cable to power up the dmm, so the pp2+ it’s good for you.

I just got this pedal and it’s truly inspiring. I also own the Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai and the Cathedral, but I have always been unhappy with the fact that you could not latch the overdub on the SMMwH or latch the infinite reverb on the Cathedral, so I’m appreciating being able to do this with the Freeze.

My only complaint at this point is that you can’t overdub, but being able to grab any sound at the input and turn it into a drone opens up a world of possibilities, so I’ll try not to think of the Freeze as a looper.

First test configuration: Kalimba + Devi Ever Rocket + Freeze = Great harmonic drone.

Aside from the HOG, the only effect I have used so far that could do this sort of thing was Marc Lingk’s TimeFreezer, and it’s a plugin, so you would need to bring a laptop and extra controllers to use it onstage.

you can overdub what you freeze with the memory man, then freeze another note and dub it again, and so on ;)

If you daysichain pedals with different polarities you’ll fry the pedals. Plus, don’t mix digital pedals with analog ones on the daysichain, digitals won’t work. read this thread for more info on powering up pedals: https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewthread/2957

if you’re daysichaining pedals with different polarity, it might get fucked up. That also can happen if the power supply doesn’t have isolated grounds. Try using just the 1spot with the mmtb, with no other pedals conected. If that doesn’t work, your pedal might be fried.

the original ICs are rare. they are. you can’t have vintage spec pedals. The 5 otas used on the SS are as big as a nano enclosure altogether (or at least almost as big). And vintage modulation RIs have been requested here a million times
