    thanks for the response ..

i’m jus gonna go with the RI Tung Sol 6l6GC ‘s they can hadle the volts and they hace the same flavor as the TS 5881’s

btw i realize the reg mig 50 is bigger, (used to have one) lol
but i’m speaking of the 50H midgets ONLY
some say midget on them and some don’t
    check it out
    guess some are politically correct,
    it’s a mystery

thanks for the Tip RE the variac & brown sound, & voltage settings

    cheers

    i just got a mig 50H midget..
i USED to have the (non MV) mig 50 and i was sorry i sold it ..

my last amp (traynor yba-1a) got stolen, and since i’m sittin on a 90’s EHX (basket weave cane grill) russian pine 4×10 cab – i decided to replace the traynor w/ the Midget 50H head.

i had some Q’s, i didn’t want to hi jack the thread was hoping to breath some new life into it

First- i noticed some mig 50H heads say MIDGET on them and others don’t, instead they have smaller writing on the left that says “all tube amp”. wondering what that might indicate? earlier later or anything different internally etc..

2nd: the voltage selector in the back for playing Europe style or USA electric power grid. the previous owner had been running it @ 100 volts instead of 120 volts … should that affect the tone of the amp, one way or another (hotter or colder) any effect on the tubes etc..??

..also was thinking of trying NOS 5881 TungSols BUT.. i think i read somewhere that these amps produce a lot of voltage to the plates and the tubes might not hold up ? any thoughts or experiences w/tubes in general (power & preamp)?? should i just go w/ the sturdier 6l6GC instead ?? and V1 vs V2 & V3

obviously these are great amps with a lot of power and cover a lot of ground.. theres not all that much info out there about em..
i want to do it justice and put the right tubes in it and speaker combination.

ANY & ALL opinions / suggestions welcome thanks
