I really like the overdrive tone of the Double Muff in single mode, but the fact that I can’t use wah before the DM really annoys me.

    Is the GeOD the answer?

The GeOD is a fairly light overdrive, completely different from the Double Muff. It’s more garage rock and a bit ratty sounding like a ripped speaker, but it’s not nearly as heavy as the Double Muff.

Yeah it’s pretty awesome. I’m pleased with it. I recently switched to using a clean amp and driving it with pedals, so this is my first proper foray into dirt pedals. Previously I was using an Orange Tiny Terror which had great overdrive but no clean headroom. So I’m really experimenting on a budget.

Just picked up one of these yesterday and I was concerned it was going to be too “muffled”, but I just plugged it into my “bright” channel and that clears up that problem. I like how the volume knob on the guitar can clear it up too for arpeggios and open chords more so than Big Muff Pi, which is an awesome pedal just not for my applications. It does seem like an “egotistical” pedal like somebody mentioned. I had to move my Janglebox compressor after it, still trying to figure that one out.

So I got one of these today used for $75 which is pretty good. They’ve certainly come down in price. The box has the original tag on it of $165 and yesterday I tried one out new for $99, which I think is a more competitive price and the original price contributed to their being unpopular. Anyway, I like how the knobs are very interactive. It definitely rocks the slashed speaker and dying battery sound, but you can get more conventional low gain warm overdrives too. It’s very raw, garage rock sounding. I’ve put my Double Muff in front of it to just give it the extra gain that the pedal doesn’t have, but retain that raw ripped up character. All in all, I really like it. I wouldn’t recommend it as anyone’s only overdrive but coupled with another drive before it or a boost it cranks.

From what I’ve been told, it is the trimpot than needs ajusting

So do I email Electro Harmonix about this or can I do it myself?

Hey, I got a Small Clone a few years ago supposedly brand new (it was from an online auction ect.) Anyway, I have always had the same problem. The light comes on but no change to the sound. What was the answer to the problem with yours? I would appreciate any knowledge. In my case, the guy who sold it to me didn’t reply to any of my complaints and I didn’t have the money to send it off for repairs and felt a bit burned that I had bought something that needed to be repaired already.
