Then I owe Nano pedals a fair shot at being on my board! Sorry about the screw up.
ranjamMemberGet in line, and take a number. I believe you are #2,147. At least you can make a simple one from a piece of tin (which, not too shockingly, it was). Try the line up for the old DOD battery covers, and you wind through two time zones.
ranjamMemberThe Carbon Copy is an awesome pedal (sorry to say that…… no, I’m not!). You may also have a slight ground loop. My one beef, and it’s not Hereford sized, but it’s bigger than a Dexter, goes like this. EH loves to run their pedals with the adaptor having the center positive, or exactly opposite to everyone else. Mixing MXR and EH could cause some problems. If you are using a DC Brick, it won’t power you EH pedal. So, you use a seperate adaptor. Now you have one pedal with a positive ground and one with a negative ground. Unless you use a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power, you use two adaptors. Here’s a weird experiment to try, since you have nothing to lose. Make up a new 6″ cable to go from pedal to pedal, but omit the ground on one end. Try the ‘open ground’ end in the MXR side and then in the EH side. Maybe one way made a big differnce to the buzz. Please let me know. I need verification that I am not mixing up my meds again.
ranjamMemberAlso remember that when in extreme levels of compression, you need ‘make up gain’, so you crank the ‘Level’ control as well. This also brings the noise along for the ride. There’s not much you can do to avoid that.
ranjamMemberAre you using a battery or an adaptor? Is it the proper adaptor? Eliminate all other variables, and you’ll know soon enough.
ranjamMemberWell, you’re the guy who would know. And it’s not even mentioned on your site, other than it being tossed in for free with a Deluxe Big Muff. I’m not interested in screwing with it, unless someone like you says anything is better than the 4558 in there now. You know how it is; we’re all Burr-Brown crazy. But an attack mod might still be cool. Even in a basic Dyna Comp the trim pot inside adjusts the attack, and the Nano version has it as well. The more I think about it, the more I realize I should relax and just enjoy it. It is pretty cool; not really noisy, the treble boost switch reminds me of a Boss CS-1, and it really works.
I don’t know what I wanted with any mod advice. Maybe being told an upgraded IC would make it a little quieter? I guess I just got excited and wanted to know everything possible in one shot.
I’ll apologize again for being too nosy and whiny. But man, I still want to know why this compressor isn’t poping up on many sites. Tone Frenzy has a really good sound clip. Between that and Discogreq, it seems we’re the only people who know about it. And I know nothing. But not for long, if I have my way. Thanks for the slap in the head. I’m back to Earth now. Time to grab a Strat, my ‘new’ Soul Preacher, and get my Nile Rogers on. -
