rafsbioMemberMine has just arrived and it’s, as expected, fantastic. I had a minor concern that the single mode was going to sound like the Nano Muff Overdrive (which, despite what EHX says, is not the exact half of the Double Muff). But it doesn’t, it’s just like the big ol’ Double Muff. My favorite overdrive/fuzz pedal now in a compact size. Now I have to put my old Double Muff for sale…
rafsbioMemberI just got mine! Now the only thing missing is the DM logo on the t-shirt designer…
rafsbioMemberThere you go. Despite what EHX says, different units indeed.
rafsbioMemberHow’s the DMM overdrive?
rafsbioMemberHere’s a quick tip if you’re thinking about getting a Double Muff:
This pedal sounds sweeter and more “controlled” if your guitar has vintage output pickups.
I recently changed my neck pickup from a Fender Tex-Mex to a kick-you-in-the-teeth Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound, and even the single mode sounds a bit fuzzy. I recommend a vintage output single-coil in neck position for a cool bluesy sound in single mode, and a vintage humbucker with the tone rolled back in bridge position for a tight double mode sound.
Cheers!
rafsbioMemberI can’t live without one. Just got rid of my Dyna Comp to buy a Soul Preacher, because of the attack control.
rafsbioMember(man, it took me two months to answer that! sorry!)
I do have the Muff OD, and it doesn’t sound like the DM in single mode (check the Double Muff thread).
But I’m really thinking about getting a GeOD. I’m looking for a nice low gain tone.
How the GeOD sounds when you push it with the LPB?rafsbioMemberI think both sound awesome! I might get one English Muff’n one of these days!
For me, with the Double Muff and a EQ control (from your amp, for instance) I can play from jazz to heavy metal!
rafsbioMemberI use the DM as second in the effects chain as well. I use a MXR Dynacomp before it. Since the compressor is always on, I compensate the treble tone the DM gets as second pedal with the guitar tone knob. On my strat, if I roll back the tone to about 5, I get pretty much the same tone as the DM as first in chain, but with the compression from the MXR.
rafsbioMemberI actually like the Nano Muff too! I like the idea of a low gain fuzz! But I wish there was a compact version of the single mode of the DM…
rafsbioMemberOk, I get it…
Just make one and I’ll buy it!rafsbioMemberQuote:Quote:i actually forgot about the double muff. i’m really interested in getting one. however, i’m thinking it sounds too similar to the nano muff, which i am not a big fan of. i got the nano muff from a friend for free and thought it’d be fun to play around with, but sadly it’s not.The Double Muff is two Nano Muff’s in one enclosure.
The Double Muff in single mode and the Nano Muff sound a lot different!
rafsbioMemberThanks!
I may be getting one to push my little Fender Champ 600.rafsbioMemberQuote:Thanks!Well, anyway it seems the GeOD works OK with Wahs and Compressors before it, right? It doesn’t have the impedance issues as the Double Muff and other fuzz pedals, does it?
Help me please GeOD owners!
