Same here.
Would like to know…
pencil-inMemberCheers, just thought I’d better ask incase one gets too hot used with the wrong pedal or something, but I’m probably just being massively paranoid :thumb:
pencil-inMemberRing Thing/Frequency Analyzer and an envelope filter, for that Stevie Wonder/Chick Corea/Radiohead kinda Fender Rhodes tone
pencil-inMemberI think you’ll get a much more natural tone using it with dirt pedals if you put it after comp but before dirt.
pencil-inMemberI’d say use SP > LPB > amp otherwise the SP will pretty much cancel out the effect of the LPB

Well done man
pencil-inMemberYeah… I’m thinking I might just get a ring mod anyway. Can’t afford to spend loads, so maybe a second-hand freq analyzer or a co-pilot android… or maybe I’ll go the DIY route, I have a couple of schematics lying about.
Meh, nevermind… I’ll just use my delay for delays
thanks for your input guys, cheers
pencil-inMemberQuote:I haven’t seen the ProGuitarShop demo, but I get a ring mod type sound in ‘Reverse Echo’ Mode with BLEND – max, DECAY – 12 O’Clock, REPEATS – 12 O’Clock, DELAY – minimum.
You get a serious volume drop though. Are these the settings you are using?Yeah same settings I use… just no sound in the first quarter of the delay time knob, yep, messedwith the blend too, but only get dry, the wet is only there above 9:00 on the delay time knob where is sounds like a warble… I was looking forward to some bonus ring mod action
pencil-inMemberQuote:I know the Ring Thing isn’t out yet but nonetheless i still have a question.I’ve recently seen some impressive videos of the Ring Thing and I’m very aware it can perform some pretty far out/extreme/weird/cool sounds. But can it also perform standard/modest/traditional sorts of modulation too? similar to the memory man/memory boys modulation sounds? or maybe like small clone comparable sounds? I’m in the market for a chorus/modulation pedal and I’m just seeing how versatile the Ring Thing is going to be.
Thanks!
From the looks of it I’d say it’s not that kind of modulation pedal. Ring modulation is produced in a very different way to chorus so you won’t get swirly-swirl outta this. It’ll do tremolo, bells, synth tones, atonal mess and all that though.
pencil-inMemberHow does the ‘Hazarai-type’ knob and the ‘Preset/Tune’ footswitch interact?
How come there are two functions for the ‘Filter/Rate’ and ‘Fine/Depth’ controls, and how do you distinguish which ‘mode’ you are in?
I’ve been watching the demo’s from NAMM and it looks a bit confusing to use the presets.
Would I be able to create 9 presets and then cycle through them with the ‘Preset/Tune’ switch?
How do you use the tune function? is it press and hold?
This pedal sounds absolutely amazing. I think I’ll sell my RE-20 to get one when it comes out… I just got a SMM/H and scored a free expression pedal that has been in my band’s practice space for years
pencil-inMemberQuote:Quote:How low can the carrier freq go? can it do tremolo, or would you need an external source for that via the mod input?Yes the carrier frequency can go low enough for tremolo. We’re still working how low it can go right now.
Push that mother RIIIIIGHT down man!
Is there a projected release date yet? or is it still too soon?
I’m gonna have to start a swear jar or something… (smutty month ahead)
pencil-inMemberHow low can the carrier freq go? can it do tremolo, or would you need an external source for that via the mod input?
pencil-inMemberI’m gonna take a stab in the dark guess here that when you play a note, press and hold the tune footswitch and the carrier auto-tunes to the note you are playing?!!!
pencil-inMemberQuote:i think that a ring modulator is, by definition, single sideband (the audio is summed against a single carrier at a single frequency). the upper and lower sideband control is just a frequency range switch – a slow carrier will provide vibrato effects, while a fast freqeuncy gives ring mod effects. the whammy-style effects are achieved by varying the frequency of the carrier wave, so that the pitch of the output varies accordingly …or not.
Ah, yes this sounds right to me… wiki says that sideband modulation is the amplitude modulation used in radio signals
