It’s not April Fool’s again yet surely Scott?!
Only joking, this is a fab idea,
a really great way to show budding (and veteran) musicians the EHX magic.PabloMemberQuote:I’d have this guitar (it needs a super distortion humbucker in it though!) (I plan on getting one of these BTW)
with an inbuilt Big Muff.
Nicely nicely! :thumb:
PabloMemberThat’s a beaut!
PabloMemberQuote:Great to see someone pick up on the idea and the name PabloEire and I talked about on the HOG Demo by Dan Miller topic posted by Scott:https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewthread/999/#10252
There is certainly a lot to be said for the Freezer pedal concept. All ideas and support welcome!
Ahhh Brill!
Really glad people are for this idea,
it’d be unlike anything else out there,
designs are looking ace WatsonWood :thumb:PabloMemberMy boss TR-2 is good and all but it really doesn’t cut it,
our local studio has a big box of pedals and the big box pulsar was the sweetest tremolo I’ve heard yet.I too am on the hunt.
PabloMemberThat’s ace! :thumb:
PabloMemberQuote:I know what you mean! …I reckon that the muff unit in the DOMs I have is the Big Muff Pi, however I will see if someone can tell us precisely. I have enclosed a pic of one my two DOMs, both of which are this model which I think is the original vintage DOM.
Meanwhile, keep looking out for vintage Deluxe Octave Multiplexers. Of the two I have now, I bought one in the UK from a store closing sale, and one in Germany on eBay. They each cost over 200 Euro and this was a few years ago, so I expect prices to have gone up, at least on this model. That looks fantastic!
I’d love to know what kinda muff is in it,
ah the peepers are peeled for one now.PabloMemberQuote:Here are some pics of three of my Vintage Big Muffs.
From L to R: 3003 v2 Lamb’s Head FS36999 (2N5088); 3003 v3 red/black BC239C; 3034 v6 S2N5088 (tone bypass)
Is there any reason the two with the 3003 board have the same weird settings on the pots so zero/ten are:10 o’clock/8 o’clock on volume
2 o’clock/11 o’clock on tone
4 o’clock/2 on sustainIt’s not just the knobs either, because those are D-shaft pots they only fit on one way.
At first I thought it was just some weird thing with an old pedal, but both muffs with the 3003 board have the same offset. Seems unlikely to be coincidence. Anyone else got one to compare?
Top pic is all knobs turned all the way anticlockwise to zero.
Bottom pic is all knobs turned all the way clockwise to ten.
That is one nice collection of muffs,
Sorry to hi-jack your post, but I was just wondering how does the tone-bypass switch affect the sound of the muff? I seen one with this switch in a local pawn store and am really intrigued by it.PabloMemberQuote:I don’t understand what they are saying 😥Neither do I but I really want a bass balls now.
PabloMemberQuote:Fuzz is Noise and Noise is Fuzz. It’s the beauty of these boxes. Stay away from fluorescent lights…. they are your enemy!Too true.
Our old practice space had flo-lights and it made everything sound like a robot having a breakdown in a filing cabinet…tinny and humming.PabloMemberQuote:Got my English Muff’n today! Yay! Man this thing is hot! I’ve already been playing around with different tube combos and like two 12ay7s the best. I think with two 12ax7s it gets too fizzy , and one 12ay7 cascading into a 12ax7 sounds better than the two 12ax7s but lacks the clarity of the 12ay7s.
Its a bloody masterpiece!
…and here is my first attempt at making a vid, its not really a demo…just me wankin’ with the Muff’n but my mic stopped working so I had to use my laptop webcam and the quality is poor. Remember I’m only 16 and am no Gearmanndude so be nice :worried:
Sounds like Cream!
Fantastic stuff! :rawk:PabloMemberQuote:The Octave Multiplexer is one of the basic pedals in my kit. One can set it nicely for a Fender Telecaster so that three / four note chords on the top strings do not trigger it but the bottom E and A strings do. This gives great bass lines for funk and reggae without any trouble with clean precise chords on top.
..and as for using the Octave Multiplexer for bass, I find it brilliant and have done several productions with the OM on a Fender Jazz Bass, and also Precision Bass. With a decent Ampeg bass system the result is powerful to say the least.
…and my top favourite is the Deluxe Octave Multiplexer with built-in muff unit. Fantastic sounds with both guitar and bass. Simply the best. :rawk:The Deluxe OM sounds lethal! Really wanna try one out.
What kinda muff is it combined with?
Seen one go on ebay recently, but the guy was only accepting ‘pickup only’
times when I wish I had a private jet…or a hovercar.PabloMemberQuote:OK, PabloEire, I get the message. No sub-par pedals! I like The Fridge, good name. How about The Freezer?
Julian, great ideas, as always! Inventive sounds lead the way to creativity, no doubt about that. I will try and work out if The Fridge / Freezer(?) is indeed a practical project for us mortals.hehehe, telling it like it is
Please do, I’d love for something like this to be feisable for production.
The Freezer…nice :thumb:PabloMemberGrab a Clone Theory for some fantastic Joy Divsion/ New Order Peter Hook tones,
haunting and atmospheric stuff.PabloMemberQuote:I wish i could have that whole case. But sadly i can’tYou can have the whole case…and I’ll take the pedals inside
fantastic stuff. -
