    Hey Grim,

As Cryabetes mentioned, the STM’s effects loop is more of a utility feature rather than sound expanding (like the DXMB or DMMTT). The STM’s effects loop allows you to place an effect X in your chain before the STM’s filter, while allowing the STM’s envelope trigger to listen to the input signal before effect X. This is helpful for dynamic squashing pedals like distortion (and the other goodies mentioned by Cryabetes). Put a distortion in the loop (try the Fullbore) and you’ll hear the sweeping filter more prominently affecting all the distortion harmonics without compromising the dynamic character of your playing.

    Good Luck!

The DXMB can be powered by a 1-spot. I use it myself in a pedalboard with other analog and digital pedals and it runs just fine.

Keep in mind that the 1-spot can supply a maximum of 1700mA. You may be using a combination of pedals that exeed this current limit. The DXMB draws 100mA.
