I got a Small Clone for $40 at a used music shop that replaced a $300 piece of “boutique” junk. It’s from the mid to late 90’s I believe, but it was plenty used. I had to use a white marker to draw a line back on the knob, it was totally worn away. It does a warbly, vibrato sound and a simple chorus sound better than the expensive pedal. I play bass and I like that it seems to add a little high-end chime to the sound when the knob is at about ten o’clock and the depth knob is up. When I run the SC into a Boss RE-20 Space Echo I can still hear the chime cutting through the echo/reverb; very cool!

So here’s a question for anyone in the know:

When a pedal like the Micro Synthesizer, for example, is changed to a lower voltage (24V to 9V) is this fundamentally reducing or changing the circuit’s sound? I like the smaller casing and it’s more convenient to use a regular 9V connection, but is changing the power changing the pedal?

I’d love to see an XO PolyChorus!
