i doubt it’s possible to shrink the Flanger Hoax or the HOG
nightravenMemberi know on vBulletin forums you can use different skins
it does get painful reading the bright white against the black :p
nightravenMemberdamn you and your vast collection of vintage kit, lol
should we come to an agreement that a new, less valuable DEM with a bit of drilling can come close to the possibilities of the polychorus? :p
i think the DEM comes closer to the polychorus than the clone or the DMM can. but i still don’t think it’s unique enough to have a spot on the board as well as a DEM or clone (i think we can agree that the DMM destroys the polychorus in terms of basic delay – imo the double track is a bit unnecessary).
…
god that black DEM is so beautiful
nightravenMembercoincidently i saw a DRM-16 on my local classifieds for only 50 euro yesterday – it was gone within minutes. i thought about taking it but it doesn’t seem very useful to me.
an XO drum machine could be cool. a hazarai type thing where you can warp the rhythms and stuff.
nightravenMemberQuote:The Deluxe Electric Mistress only has continuous adjustment over rate, depth, and feedback. The Polychorus has continuous adjustment over 4 different parameters- rate, depth, feedback, and tune/delay. The tune/delay is particularly useful, because it allows you to adjust the amount of delay time of the modulated signal. The delay time is preset for you on the SC and the DEM.the deluxe electric mistress has trimpots inside for delay, feedback limit, bias and something else that’s useful which i can’t remember – change the ones you like into real pots and you’ve got something that sounds better than the polychorus and offers more control
nightravenMemberthe deluxe memory man is the best out of those if you just want organic delay without all the ‘bells and whistles’
the dano reel echo is shitnightravenMembertubes aren’t going to make that much difference with a phaser. but any reissue of the Bad Stone would be phenomenal.
nightravenMemberand the obligatory voltage sag and blend
for each gain stage!
nightravenMemberQuote:Well, unfortunately, yes, I have to agree with nightraven. I love those huge enclosures and those pesky phone plugs.Let’s hope the prices on the big-box versions drop. :thumb:
i actually dislike the sound of the holy grails (bar the holiest grail, although that one’s quite expensive to make up for it). it’s got to be either a digital, versatile reverb processor or a proper spring reverb. the only analog spring reverb simulator that i properly like is the T-Rex one.
but yeah – the big boxes are awesome! this is all a big EHX plot to stop people modding the pedals since there’s no space in the squished up XOs
nightravenMembermeh
sorry EHX
… meh.
not a fan of the series.
nightravenMemberi’m thinking about getting one since they’re pretty cheap
how moddable are they? seem like a cool thing to fiddle with.

newest edition is the early 90s TC Electronic Stereo Chorus/Flanger!
edit: argh ehx forums cutting it up – click the link to see the board
nightravenMembervery very nice
nightravenMemberyeah you can plug it right into your soundcard but it won’t sound very good (and you’d need a 1/4″ to 1/8″ lead)
you should use an interface with a preamp for it to sound better
nightravenMemberi don’t have any specific EHX GAS (call me a traitor lol)
but i’ve still got the usual craving for a flanger hoax and i’m thinking of setting up a little ‘piggy bank’ for a bassballs if one pops up on the local classifieds for a cheap price
