My diagram of the sovtek switch is 100% verified, I drew it from one of my big muffs myself when I true bypassed them. So I don’t know what your doing or whatever. If you’re not getting any continuity the switch is fucked. if you are and its different then you are doing something wrong.

Yeah, I posted the wrong diagram sorry. here’s the correct one:

Just use the first diagram I gave you for the switch wiring as this ones for the sovtek switch true bypass.

You cant get replacement parts for it from any stores.

Them two tabs are not part of the switching and are irrelevant.
Also, the pinout of the sovtek switches is not the same as standard DPDT switches.

It doesn’t go like this: (so wiring it as per normal DPDT will result in a pedal that will not work)

    14
    25
    36

So you’ll have to use a 3PDT and wire like this diagram below.

Don’t forget to cut the trace between input jack and effect input.

This diagram provides all the information you need to true bypass it. You’ll need two big washers that you use to mount the new smaller switch the the inside chassis plate as the hole is obviously too big to mount a 3PDT.

Essentially, you are doing this to it and the end result should look like this:

The LPB has one knob. Its a volume knob. Turn it to zero and you will have no sound.
Its not an attenuator but you can turn it to zero yes.

The bypass is normal and tru bypassing it will fix it.
With my opamp muff the more you turn it up the less apparent the gain increase becomes due to saturation. At lower levels the difference is very noticeable. However it does have the right amount of gain for what it is. Yours may be normal I dont really know without hearing it.

Yep, not gonna happen no matter what you do to it!

Seriously, I’m poor as shit and on the doll! But once I get something in my head, I keep at it till I get it…saving does wonders…actually, hoarding your money does more!

Almost every bit of gear I have I have bought on the doll…my vintage mustang, my jaguar my twin reverb etc etc.

You can own almost anything if you just save! And considering there’s only three more pedals I’m buying, and they aren’t expensive, i will have no problem saving for it.

And some shocking news: I’m not buying big muffs anymore, I figure the 13 I have is overkill so I’ll leave it at that….unless i see a stoopidly cheap deal on a early 90’s sovtek or something then i’ll make an exception, but if that doesn’t happen, my muff collection is finished AFAIC! I have the best of the best muffs so anything else is a downgrade IMO!

I cant wait till I get my new amp (it will be a while though), a 100watt JCM 800 half stack! Typically i don’t like Marshalls but I do like this one a shit load and I cant afford a Mesa triple rectifier so its kinda a compromise.Until then, I play my twin reverb.

I have to admit I don’t have a good impression of the MT whatsoever! I have read basically nothing but complaint after complaint about it….usually I would just ignore this kinda thing because people complain about nothing a lot but I’m starting to think there’s something to it and that it has an inherent design flaw….. it hasn’t been out long and I have read at least 30-40 complaints about it on various forums, all very similar. This is the first opposite complaint I’ve heard of though.

I remember playing a V1 green sovtek in 98 here in Australia. First muff I ever played too.

I bought my first one on the sole reputation that Mudhoney used one,I never even heard it (aside from on Mudhoney records)…I just “knew” it would be good and thought any pedal that looks that cool has to sound good.
13 muffs later and I still haven’t been proved wrong! 😆

There’s a way to decrease gain easy enough but it still involves removing and replacing resistors.

Vintage LBM’s and XO LBM are totally different! Still muffs, but not the same at all.

I do agree though ,unless you know what you are doing modding SMD is not a good idea. if however you do know what you are doing its no more of an inconvenience than modding any other pedal.
