Ned FlandersModerator
I get what your saying, you can only try it i spose.
Ned FlandersModeratorYou can buy replacement switches from smallbear electronics you will need to use the switch cap you already have though, wire it so its true bypass you just wont have an LED unless you wire in a millennium bypass system. Who needs LED’s on big muffs anyways?
If you need a diagram to TB your russian muff let me know, I drew one up thats real simple to follow.
Ned FlandersModeratorThey probably have them in stores here too but everything related to guitars/amps/effects is ridiculously expensive here so I buy all my stuff from the US and I saw that NSC sell them direct so I’ll probably get one from them.
Ned FlandersModeratorThat is essentially the same deal as the one I did, It wont make a difference to the noise level with one input or two. You shouldn’t be getting noise with the inputs grounded when not in use. I used to use a looper and I’d have a heap of noise effects on and when bypassed they would be silent. The way it works is that the channel you are not using grounds out, hence, canceling any noise.
Anyways, I done another diagram for you, this way you can ad a bi colored LED so you know which channels are being used. Try wire it like this (without the LED’s) I cant see why you would get noise if you re wire it exactly like this diagram, it does exactly the same thing as the other one I done but it just leaves room on the switch for an LED. NOTE: Make sure you have the 3PDT switch orientated correctly, it should be so the flat part of the lugs go horizontal, not vertical. I know EHX mounts them in around the wrong way on certain effects and some people think this is normal and they end up wiring it wrong.
Ned FlandersModeratorYeah me too, I bet all us EHX fans would like nothing more than ALL EHX effects re-issued.LOL it’d be cool.
Ned FlandersModeratorQuote:a reissue of the deluxe big muff in a diecast caseYes, that would be cool!
Ned FlandersModeratorNo problem, glad to help!
Ned FlandersModeratorI want one of the EHX pedal bags, they seem like a cool idea and for someone who hates pedalboards it seems like a good compromise. Melx, did you order yours from new sensor?
Ned FlandersModeratorQuote:. . . a dirt box that sounds ball park (but with far more tonal options) like a WOOLY MAMMOTH !!!I honestly think there is a market for such a beast !
Maybe in the same enclosure as the biggest Metal Muff, to have enough surface space for all the tonal knobs and toggles that will make it the ultimate tonal shaping Fuzz Monster !I know my collection is not complete without such a pedal . . .
PLEASE EHX !!!
I designed a pedal, and I will be selling them soon, that is woolly mammothXbig muffXfuzzface-esque. It has volume tone and midscoop knobs. Its very bassy but never boomy, it has nice definition of notes and the midscoop knob allows you dial in either mid hump of midscoop, scooped as low as the swollen pickle. I don’t like to yank my own chain but its a sick fuzz and it definitely my favorite. When I start selling them I will post on HCFX about it.
My influence for making such a pedal was the Big muff(it has a modified big muff tonestack) and the fuzzface and of course the band EARTH, I wanted to blend the two but have a unique sound as the result. I’d love nothing more than to see EHX making one of my pedals but I doubt they’d want to make one of MY pedals.
Ned FlandersModeratorOk here it is, wire it like this and you have each channel that isn’t being used grounded to cancel any noise. You also have anti-pop resistors on input and output.
The pedal might already be wired like this, I really don’t know but I highly doubt it would have the pulldown resistors added. if its not wired like this just make the necessary changes.
Ned FlandersModeratorI’ll do a diagram for you. just give me a bit of time, I’ll start it now.
Ned FlandersModeratorI made a little box once that controls voltage, you could hook it into any pedal, kinda like the beavis de-volt. I noted that a lot of fuzz sounds good with less than 9 volts but modulation sounds pretty bad, small clones start to break up and start sounding like an OD. Digital Delay can be interesting on 4 volts.
Ned FlandersModeratorQuote:I’m looking at the EHX Switchblade for the following use.Guitar->EHX BlackFinger Comp->Wah->Ehx Switchblade-
A->Catalinbread SCP Boost->Fender Twin Ch1
B->Catalinbread SC Overdrive->Fender Twin Ch2The 2 Catalinbread pedals will always be on.
Since the Fender Twin allows me to use 2 channels at once will I get hum form the unused channel when switching? or a pop?
Not if B is grounded while you are using A, if its not you can easily make it so it does.
If there is a pop you can solder in a pulldown resistor (1Meg should do) from input/output to ground.Ned FlandersModeratorQuote:what’s the deal with this ‘the chips are running out’ stuff……is there any truth to that? sure they aren’t going to last forever but last I heard EHX and plenty for a number of years yet.I remember someone posted an email they got, a reply from EHX, about the IC’s and they said they have plenty left to make the DMM for a number of years yet. I like the original box version and been wanting one for quite some time.
Ned FlandersModeratorYep and considering my twin reverb cost me AU$2,300 but retails for AU$3,100 I think I’ll stick with fenders. I’d love a mesa but I could never afford one on my income.
