EHX already have some acoustic guitars, they were out in the 70’s IIRC. They are pretty damn rare though.
Ned FlandersModeratorI’d like to see the schematic for this, just to see how much it differs from the 2000 model NYC.
Ned FlandersModeratorYou beat me to it.
Ned FlandersModeratorThe knobs aren’t glued on, they are just pushed on. They are on firm and it takes a knife to pry them off, do one side then turn the knob and do a little bit more, continue turning the knob around as you pry it off a little on each side at a time.
Ned FlandersModeratorYou should still buy the switch I linked to because its a sovtek switch specifically for your kind of big muff, that way it will look and be stock.
Ned FlandersModeratorYeah the difference in real life is more so than on this poor recording, but it does come through still. I really need to get some recording hardware.
Quote:I have a Deluxe Big Muff Pi (blend switch version) from about 1980 or so, which I believe is also an Op-Amp Muff. I wonder if it’s the same circuit, apart from the compressor of course.I read on FS.O that it is the same circuit, this hasn’t been verified by EHX though.
Ned FlandersModeratorYeah, using two different types can result in different clipping, one may be silicon the other germanium…
Ned FlandersModeratorHeres a comparison between the current NYC bmp and a 78 opamp version, the clip goes current-opamp-current-opamp. Its just one riff repeated so comparison can be easy, its not the best recording as its straight into an RC-2 finished on krystal audio engine, no amp.

Download to listen, the stream ain’t working for me.Ned FlandersModeratorLooks kinda like a modified bass fuzz, (ie;the boost section of the fuzz factory) that grey/black thing is likely a diode for circuit protection, so if you plug the wrong adapter in like positive center it wont fry it. Or it could just be for cliping like the other one, being where it is on the PCB I would bet on this.
But its really hard to tell, theres lots you can do with one transistor a couple of caps and a few resistors.
Ned FlandersModeratorOk , whenever you can.
Ned FlandersModeratorPost a gut shot (component side) and I might be able to tell you what it is if its based off anything that is.
Ned FlandersModeratorTo me yes, sounds like two clean boosts cause it is very clean like but its a little dirty at the same time.
Ned FlandersModeratorIt sounds pretty cool, kinda like two LPB’s.
Ned FlandersModeratorLOL you love teh XO don’t ya! :rawk:
Ned FlandersModeratorI love all the old effects, the big enclosures too.
