No, it will only effect the output volume of the effected signal. If the bassballs is distorting a bit you could always wire the pot on the input of the effect in to reduce gain a little bit, I would experiment with both ways to see which is better to you. However if its fine but just too loud I would put the volume control on the effect output.
Ned FlandersModeratorI’m not sure what the trims do but you can easily add a volume controll to any pedal, just wire in a 100kB pot on effect out before the switch, that way you bypassed signal is normal and your effected signal is whatever you set it at.
Ned FlandersModeratorBother versions sound the same as far as I know, just a design flaw possibly with the first STV versions.
Ned FlandersModeratorYeah mine has no volume drop either, I think a lot of people mistake the smothered phases effects for a volume drop personally, the same can be said of the pulsar, it clearly has no volume drop yet people complain of this.
Ned FlandersModeratorEHX build quality has gone up considerably in the XO and nano pedals, EHX were not known for their high quality builds in the 70’s/80’s, I know cause I have vintage units that could do with a lot more solder and I’ve seen component leads that could be clipped off by a mile. EHX has always been very fair with prices and keeping them low is a big benefit to the company, it allows them to sell lots of units rather than just selling a few at stupid prices. EHX are THE innovators in effects pedals, their pedals are used buy the rich, the poor, the bedroom player and big time rockstars too. EHX is doing everything right in the effects business. They need change nothing!
Ned FlandersModeratorThat pot is a CTS, made in the 30th week of 1979. I think this SS is exactly the same as mine, I’ll check later.
Ned FlandersModeratorCool, julian!
Ned FlandersModeratorI already have one dude!. Its cool, best trem ever!
Ned FlandersModeratorModulation is more of what I need, I plan on going crazy with EHX modulation purchases soon.
Ned FlandersModeratorThe civil war ones were out first, then came the green ones. They kept the civil war PCB layout and used it for the Green ones but changed the value of two caps. If you can hear the difference between any two civil war/green muffs then your pretty clever as the changes are negligible.
ANY two muffs of the same issue sound a little different anyways so trying to compare two muffs of different issues is not as feasible as it might seem as muffs vary so much in sound comparison is useless.
Ned FlandersModeratorOh definitely, EHX lives in America, Fender lives in America….but then again so does Charles Manson!
Ned FlandersModeratorQuote:The first AC-powered EH pedal! Just fixed one of those for a guy in Sweden. Man, you can really get some wacky sounds out of them. They used that chassis until the late 70’s/early 80’s then they went to the Memory Man-style chassis. EHX used my original 80’s Frequency Analyzer as a model for the reissue. I remember that they sent it back when they were finished then Mike called me and said they needed it back to copy the artwork.
Aren’t you the lucky one, getting personal phone calls from Mike, using your pedals. LOL (I wish I lived in America sometimes)
Ned FlandersModeratorThey do say that, then when you compare a RI with a vintage model it sounds exactly the same…LOL, IME anyways. Or if it don’t sound exact it still sounds just as good.
Ned FlandersModeratorThe so called “civil war” muffs are almost identical to the green russians, they differ by a couple of component values. You used to be able to buy the green army muff knobs from small bear but they sold out, I scored a set luckily for my black muff. The civil war muffs have the same PCB layout as the first green russians BTW.
Ned FlandersModeratorYou have a direct link to the japanese EH site?
