Ned FlandersModerator
I saw something (and that pic) on line a couple of weeks ago, didn’t think much of it as it was a smaller pic and I couldn’t make out what it was all about.
Anyways, I don’t buy guitar magazines. (I might get this one to see what Mikes got to say)
Cool though!
Ned FlandersModeratorTrue bypass (or any mechanical bypass) isn’t all it made out to be as people are slowly learning…
Ned FlandersModeratorI have a silicon fuzz, the Ultra Lord, one of the very first editions (old big box) and it picks up radio everytime I use it.
When I play the radio is gone, when I stop I hear horse racing or murder investigations or church sermons. I have accepted it as part of the pedal!Ned FlandersModeratorScratch that, your 3034 dont work for chords? PM me a a hi res gut shot (component side) and I can show you what to change so it WILL work for chords. SO the chord problem…is it muddy or not enough clarity? either way I can show you how to fix it easily if you want.
I have a 3034, its one of my favorite muffs, its sick sick sick!
Chords work fine with mine and I play in drop D/C with high gain.(sustain maxed)
Yeah, PM me as I will likely forget about this thread by the end of today.LMAO
Ned FlandersModeratorYeah for NPN and then use 2N5087 for PNP if you wish.
Ned FlandersModeratorIts not gonna make a difference if you wanna build a clone. Just use 2N5089’s.
If its for research purposes, well I cant help you as I don’t remember.LOL I don’t even know if I ever knew….
Kit will know!
Have you checked his site out? I havent been there in ages but I think he tells you on his site.
Ned FlandersModeratorYeah you can get good SS amps. the Sun beta lead is my favorite and its possibly the best sounding of them all. Tech 21 make SS amps too.
Ned FlandersModeratorQuote:Quote:so every time i get on here, i go through the main page to make sure im not missin anything. then i click the ehx community tab and move down 2 spaces to click forums. from there i continue on to do whatever so. well i cant do that now because its apparently more necessary for people to know what other brand pedals you can use with some ehx adaptor than it is for me to not have to move down another space. im furious! im outraged by this monstrosity! well thats allUse your hot link bar in Chrome or Firefox or whatever you use. Drag the forums up there, then edit it and take out the name so then it’s only the icon. I’ve got a whole row of icons for all my important links.
Same, all my most used links.
Ned FlandersModeratorAnd REAL voltage going to them too! No starved plates here.
Ned FlandersModeratorIf you are after a classic tube sound but cant afford an amp right now look into “Tech 21” pedals (the SansAmp is my fav) as they emulate tube amps really really well going straight into solid state amps. I used a SansAmp into solid state for years before I started using tube amps. IMO, if you can use solid state and sound good (Like The Melvins) then do it, its cheaper and far far more reliable.
Oh, Dimebag Darrel is another guy who got a sick and iconic sound out of solid state.
Ned FlandersModeratorI don’t even bother worrying about if a pedal is TB or not, if I like the pedal I use it. To me its 100% irrelevant as I only use 3-4 pedals. 1 of which is a tuner and the other a loop recorder so that leaves a buffered distortion and a non TB sovtek big muff, my setup sounds sick so that just proves the TB purists are full of shit! (which I always knew anyways even when I used to use up to 20 pedals)
If you think your set up sounds good don’t bother changing anything, if not I’d look else where first…
In my experience a pedals bypass and cables dont make a bit of difference (sure some effect the clean tone a bit but its fixable with the amps treble knob), its how you set your EQ and how you play that makes the most difference and what counts the most.
Ned FlandersModeratorEHX is about the future, not the past, that is why Mike wont make vintage correct RI’s IMO.
And the RI’s (other EHX pedals) that do exist are classics. Not every minor change in the vintage BMP’s are classics IMO, not to mention all the one off big muffs out there that someone accidentally put some wrong values in and that 1 and only pedal may be viewed as a classic by some, how is that going to be reissued?
No two muffs sound the same and I’ve only ever heard one stock green sovtek that sounded good, the rest sound crud, I assume the good one is a fluke, not to schem, a mistake. Similar can be said of various other muffs.
IMO BMP’s got good from the IC onwards, then the 3034, these two are the best muffs and what I consider classics. I really dont care for ramsheads muffs except one version, or the triangle muffs whatsoever.
Ned FlandersModeratorBTW, feedback is part of any high gain device and is normal.
Ned FlandersModeratorYou’re just weak!
Ned FlandersModeratorYou’re welcome dude!
