I’m not a fan of EMG’s, SD make some good pups though. So does DiMarzio. DiMarzio have an interactive pup selector on their site, check it out.

Ned FlandersModeratorI’d have this guitar (it needs a super distortion humbucker in it though!) (I plan on getting one of these BTW)
with an inbuilt Big Muff.
Ned FlandersModeratorA good gain range is 600+ for all four Q’s. This is pretty standard in 5088’s so youl be keeping it much the same as it already is. 70-100 is ok for germanium fuzz faces (I like around 200+) but wont be much good in a big muff.
Ned FlandersModeratorIf your local electronics store dont have them you can get them here
http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=24Ned FlandersModeratorjust buy another DPDT switch and remove one wire at a time and solder it in the same place on the new switch.
Ned FlandersModeratorIts not integral to the sound so you can just jumper it with a small piece of wire, your muff will still sound identical.
Ned FlandersModeratorIts about 3 years old.
Ned FlandersModeratorRemember to put the highest gain transistor in Q1 for best results as this stage sets the overall gain.
Ned FlandersModeratorI’m sure mines got MN3007 in it and its a RI.
Ned FlandersModeratorHave you audio probed it. Or checked it with a DMM?
BTW, you can use 2N5089 transistors, they sound good in muffs.Ned FlandersModeratorJust download it, then buy it when it comes out. I downloaded it so i can listen to it when i want to.
Ned FlandersModeratorYes.
Ned FlandersModerator1/4 watt.
April 29, 2009 at 10:34 pm in reply to: big muff pi w/tone wicker — can you use the original big muff power supply? #96190Ned FlandersModeratorYes but you’l need a converter to convert the plug, on the NYC muff it uses a 1/8 male jack. on the wicker it uses a 2.1mm barrel connector like boss.
