Ned FlandersModerator
It refers to the trapezoidal enclosure.
Ned FlandersModeratorThe earlier ones are 1322 Op Amp big muffs, the later the 3034 transistor muff.
Thats what I’ve observed anyways.Ned FlandersModeratorSounds like you want a high gain fuzz face, its better for higher freqs than and muff which specializes in low end.
And for the low end department i would say get a woolly mammoth, you cant get any lower than that without being muddy, its intensely low.Ned FlandersModeratorThe polychorus isnt the best chorus nor flanger, but it is a good pedal in other ways. For flanger you’d be better off with the DEM and for chorus the small clone. The polychorus does excellent other types of chorus but for standard chorus it isnt as good as the small clone. It does what I call “spooky chorus” really well, like something from a B horror movie. the flange is ok but isnt as intense as the DEM or BF-2 for example.
I love my polychorus but for standard chorus you cant beat a small clone IMO. You can get really interesting sounds with a small clone AND poly chorus on together.
I advise you buy all three.June 2, 2009 at 10:16 pm in reply to: Effectology, Vol. 1: Electric Guitar plays Blues Harmonica #97267Ned FlandersModeratorI know the HOG one is from the PDF instruction manual.

Ned FlandersModeratorI think its just a stock NYC muff inside.
Ned FlandersModeratorMy fav civil war color is the green and black ones.

Ned FlandersModeratorYou like the IC muff sound? it kinda reminds me of a regualr muff played thru a marshall.
Ned FlandersModeratorI thought you were meanign the footswitch,LOl
Ned FlandersModeratorIts because its not true bypass and or the switch is dodgy, just TB and you wont have a problem.
I TB all my vintage muffs.Ned FlandersModeratorvisit diystompboxes and do a search, there’s a guy there that makes them IIRC.
Ned FlandersModeratorknob placements, although they may look identical, are not identical due to tolerances.
pot 1= 100kB actual value is 105kB
pot2= 100kB actual value 97kB
thats a difference of 8k and the same positions will result in different sounds.
Then you have tolerances of all the other components on top of this so variation from unit to unit is going to exist.Ned FlandersModerator137 is the company number (CTS) the 7xxxx is the year and week. So if its 137 7712 its the 12th week of 1977.
This only tells you when the pots were made by CTS, not when the pedal was made by EHX. -
