IMO the SS makes a very poor vibrato so I wouldnt make any permanent changes if trying this mod.

Basically, the only pedals I mod is fuzz and distortion, I have always liked my modulation stock so dont know of any interesting mods for such pedals.

I wouldn’t bother with any personally. I don’t know how the SSS bypass is but the SBM non TB is fine. Initially I TB’d my SBM’s but then I compared it to my latest SBM with stock bypass, they sounded Identical, this got me wondering so I traced the stock bypass and discovered unlike regular non TB like on vintage EHX BM’s that the SBM’s ground the circuit while in bypass mode, hence, creating a clearer non TB and zero leakage. So I re wired all my SBM’s back to stock bypass, so the LED’s would work again.

Other than the bypass, which I imagine could oscillate on the SSS if its bypass is like the EHX vintage SS’s I wouldnt mod it at all. If it doesn’t oscillate it probably has the same non TB set up as the SBM’s.

I like SS’s stock, they sound great IMO.

BUT,if you do want to mod it I know where you can get some Soviet military push button switches made in the same style as the big silver switch but much much smaller and with a reddy/maroon colored button that would fit the theme of the SSS and look really nice, better than a mini toggle. They are cool switches and I was gonna buy a heap of them but I really have no use for them TBH.

The BMTW and the 3003-C revision are IMO the best BMP’s to be released since 1980.

Just rouges taking advantage IMO. They shouldnt be this expensive.

Mike Matthews himself said the sovteks changed over the years, becoming cheaper and poorly made to keep production costs low as the cost to produce increased. When they issued the first sovteks they were made really well, then they started getting lighter, thinner and smaller and along with this ,poorer in quality.

The last black sovtek is the poorest and should never sell for over 100 bucks IMO.

Thats why you need a mono to stereo adapter plug.

On the sansamp original/classic if you push the headphone jack in half way it comes out stereo, this is an intended feature of it. It also sounds great but you have to remember this IS a pre amp pedal not just a distortion or fuzz.

I like twin reverbs with the bright off. BUT ,if I am playing an entirely clean song I will turn the bright on…I also play a Jaguar which has 1Meg pots and is particularly bright, way more so than a LP or stat or tele.

I also have the tone control disconected to make it even brighter so you could say I like brightness, then IO like to smother it with a big muff!LOL But I also have a few of my big muffs modded so they are brighter and more scooped at the same time, they retain all their low end but the highs come thru more, kinda like the BMPTW but brighter yet still scooped and muffled. its like I have one bright muff and one dark muff on in parallel actually.

Never play a dirt pedal into a fender amp with bright switches on,its horrific!

Like kit and dev said , any 4148 or 914 diode will be just fine as they have about the same specs as the stock ones.

I would be more prone to desoldering a pot for a date than bending it to tell you the truth! I’d rather that than break the pot or PCB which you CANNOT replace easily where as solder you can and you wont even have to add any new solder, just reflow the original stuff.

You may be able to email EHX about it: info@ehx.com.

The EH man will likely know though.

This is the original case, ramshead muffs came in this box,the very last ramsheads before the Version 4 IC muff. And there’s nothing wrong with this box, it has character and no you cant get new or NOS ones.
    Its missing a diode too.
