yes i did the finish, but its not paint…lol

its a hand rubbed oil finish, i prefer oil finishes, they feel great in your hands and its more stable than other finishes IMO, plus i put like 50 coats on them so it looks just like lacquer.

i got the color by staining the wood before the oil, i had a hard time finding the colors i wanted so… i used RIT clothing dye…lol (like from your grocery or sewing store) i just mixed it with denatured alcohol and rubbed it in!

well i wouldn’t go that far, i would just put it in a plain diecast box or paint it, and give it a better footswitch and knobs

i could swear i remember seeing Mike Mathews say thats how the man behind Peavey amplification, first integrated a distortion into there amps. he seen mike with his lpb-1 and he cloned it and put a bunch in series?!?!

i agree that the nano clone is not as lush and really lacks from not having the depth switch.

i did notice that the nano has 1 more trim pot than the small clone, does anyone know its use, maybe it can improve the sound? (maybe it controls depth?)

thanks for the input on the3 bassballs, i also have the large Russian one, and have been looking into getting the nano one to save space. i did not know there was a significant difference in the sound.

but ill probably eventually get the nano anyway, just for the collection! its just not on the top of the list anymore.

the best advise i could give is to listen to Liberty Belle and EH-MAN, i would also like to add that it may be bad solder connections to the pot in question, or the pot itself may be able to be fixed yourself, by removing the metal tabs that hold it togeather, and using an electronics or pot cleaner on the inside, and/or bending the slider to properly have friction on the plate.

if your thinking double muff or lpb-1, there’s always the single “muff” in the nano box as well, i would say its right in the middle.

buying the single muff would save you cash, but if you got extra you could always go with the double muff, and use it in single mode, you will always have the option to have more gain if you wanted by switching it into double mode.

also to think about….anyone can always use a good compressor, and i use the EHX Black Finger (newer tube version) and on top of having a good compressor, you can dial in a bit of good OD with it as well!

the face has no real perpus that i know of, it was just a logo that sum one made for mike that he used on the unit, along with the well known “rams head” which is really just a human face drawn in a very Celtic or druid way. it just happens that the “rams head” stayed with them and became there main logo. (to the best of my knowledge)

yeah the pedals are the same worldwide, its only the adapter that is different depending on the location.

my suggestion would be to use all the original power adapters you have on a power strip (circuit breaker strip) device and then just get one converter for the power strip plug, that would save you hassle, confusion on many cords and adapters, and money.
