im hoping one of the first purchasers of the unit can make an actual sound comparison and let us all know.

(i use on guitar, so simple yet one of my favorite effects!)
but it sounds like the Stereo Talking Machine may be EH’s answer to a “WMD’s super fat man”
and i hear the Stereo Talking Machine can simulate the bass balls sound as well.
if all this is true, then this would be an awesome addition to my arsenal! can anyone confirm it can do the bass balls effect?? and any comparisons to the versatility of the “WMD’s super fat man”??
Thank you!!
Mr.GrimMemberI have to add that…”toy sugar” is a very horrible name for sum young girls!!…..sure it sounds good…but only info a dirty way!! Why would a 16yo’s father support that!?!?!?
Mr.GrimMemberfor those of you interested in using a “crybaby” as a “fixed” filter…….have you seen this?!?!
its not made by Dunlop but theres a real Crybaby circuit in there!
Mr.GrimMembertrue Cryabetes, but ive done that before and it works in most situations. but i have a couple ideas for circuits that a treadle type enclosure would be necessary. i mean, …wouldnt it be dumb if crybabys were made in a nano enclosure (the board would fit) but then they required you to get an expression pedal as well to be able to use it at all?
Mr.GrimMemberno Scruffie it wasn’t the same company that makes the “chi-wha-wha” (Plutonium? i think?) it was a different smaller more boutique company who made pedals but also offered enclosures. i only used the “chi-wha-wha” as an example, the one im thinking of actualy wasn’t the same (almost a Boss style case) it was more of a Crybaby case, but small like a Boss pedal.
but thank you for your help and efforts!!!
Mr.GrimMemberdamn! thanks for the info Scruffie but thats still a bit expensive for multiple builds.
i once seen a website and lost track of it, of sum one who makes boutique pedals and sells the enclosures. they offered a small expression enclosure, almost like the “chi-wha-wha” i was hoping sum one will know sum info.
Mr.GrimMemberhay Ron, this pedal aside, do you know where home builders can find treadle type enclosures?!?!?! i have many many suppliers for standard aluminum enclosures, but nothing in a wah / volume type?!?!?!! please tell me you know a maker!!
Mr.GrimMemberNo it will be fine , the only thing that could happen and it would be rare is it will only sound a bit odd because your pedals are not getting enuf power all chained togeather. But it will not hurt anything, and with your current pedals it won’t be a problem ta aol, there should be plenty of power!
Mr.GrimMemberyes thats what i was talking about, you need that one, but as i sed you will not ALSO need the other one you mentioned, this one your showing now already reverses the polarity, so its the only one you need.
Mr.GrimMemberi dont think you need it, most power supply and cable makers know that all of the small 1/8 phono style power jacks are opposite polarity, so the adapter cable automatically corrects the polarity as well as the size and shape.
Mr.GrimMemberi COMPLETELY understand what your talking about with the sound of your own voice, im the same way.
i must say its not really my style but it was very good, and i felt the vocals fit perfectly.
Mr.GrimMemberit all depends on how “flexible” you need it to be.
i own the largest full model of the metal muff, but i have test driven the mid sized and nano (pocket) ones.
the smaller you go in the series, you do get less options, they all have the same distortion circuit, sound, and tone. but you lose the option to tweak the tone with an EQ, the smaller ones just dont feature, treble, mid, bass, or top boost options and controls.
** i hate to say this but….i was going to downsize my metal muff with a smaller model, but i ended up with an MXR Fullbore Metal. its the size of a nano pedal, but has all options of the large metal muff and a noise gate built in. it also (IMO) sounds way better, like a Mesa Rectifier amp in full overdrive.
Mr.GrimMemberyeah the Nano and XO cases are just re issues of the older effects placed into smaller boxes, you may not find every effect in the new smaller boxes, but the ones you do are the same as the older ones, so no, you wont lose any control options or tone there.
(with exception to the Nano Clone, but do to our complaints here in the forum it has now been replaced with Neo Clone, and the Nano Dr.Q with the bass switch is a bit off, but that just needs a trim pot adjustment and its fine!)
of the “newer boxed EH pedals i own:
Nano Clone
The Screaming Bird
The Mole
LPB-1
Dr.Q
Bass Balls
(Nano Stone on the way)also in the larger (XO) newer boxes i have:
Stereo Memory Man W/ Hazarai
The Worm
Little Big Muff PI
Metal Muff W/ Top Boostand many many more of the old style pedals!
so from my experience IMO, no theirs nothing wrong with using the nano pedals, or tone or control loss!
(the list in my signature was and old signal chain that really really needs to be updated, not an inventory)
