yeah, I would contact them about it, they will do repairs outside of warranty for a small fee.

so I am sending it back and was told he would refund. recorded mail meaning tracking number and delivery confirmation so i have record it was sent back and then received by him?

yeah, I’m in the UK so I’m only familier with our options but yeah, you want proof that it was sent and proof that it was delivered (signed for on delivery) and some kind of insurance … The important thing is to cover yourself.

a UK, European or Austrailian power supply is the right voltage (230v) you’d still need some kind of plug adapter I’d presume. (sorry I don’t know what type of plug/sockets you have there?)

It makes no difference that the listing said ‘no returns’ if the item you received is not as described you can go through the ebay claims procedure…. start buy clicking ‘resolve a problem’ in the drop down menu where it says ‘more actions’ under ‘leave feedback’ next to the item in ‘my ebay’

then click the ‘Item received was not as described’ option and explain the details…

it’s always best to do this rather than email so ebay have a record of what was said and when…. ebay will contact the seller on your behalf.

you will have to send it back to get a refund, so make sure you send it by some kind of recorded mail.

would it be unusual for the hiss to be predominantly following picking strings and holding chords with tapering off to almost nothing. i can almost eliminate the hiss (‘idling’/when i am not playing) by adjusting my rocktron gate/hush pedal but this does nothing to the hiss following picking strings/hitting chords.

well when you hit a chord the gate opens so it’s not going to do anything then… noise gates shut the signal off when there is no input, but as soon as you start playing the gate has to open to allow your guitar signal though (and any other noise)

I can’t comment on the Germ4 because I’ve never played one but none of my regular muff’s are that noisy…. but what a muff is good at doing is amplifying any noise in front of it…so if your guitar is ‘a bit buzzy’ running it though a big muff or any other ‘gain device’ will turn a ‘bit buzzy’ into ‘very buzzy’ …. take the input out crank the pedal up and see how much noise it’s actually making.

    here you go..

    €13

EDIT, sorry… I misread your post!!

that’s the PSU for the new version, i’m not sure if the old model has a different tip.

yeah, the US power supply won’t be the correct voltage if you buy it from the USA.. so you’ll either need to correct power supply or a transformer to convert the voltage.

Probably best to buy it from Europe to be honest

they have the new one in stock at thomann

they are based in Germany but sell all over the EU, I’ve used them many times from the UK.

The tape is either wound tight or it’s been stretched.

try putting a pencil/pen in it and going through the whole cassette to loosen it on the spools.

or your cassette player is knackered of course. (slipping drive belt inside maybe?)

They still have the tube pedals…

I wonder for how long? Their popularity has certainly waned on the forums, which is a shame because they are all fabulous. I have all of them now except for the English Muff’n.

yeah, hot tubes is gone for a start…. why discontinue just that one and none of the others? … that’s what I’m asking myself.

I like to have phase before flanger.

Boss is buffered and the Crybaby isn’t true bypass. You can check by just looking to see if the switch is blue.

not really…. I’ve seen plenty of pedals with ‘blue switches’ (3 pole double throw/9 solder lugs) that aren’t wired for TB … and others without a 3pdt that are TB, the only way to tell is to check the wiring.

    you’ve only just noticed?!?! :D

they’ve been fazing them out for a good few years now…. I remember watching things disappearing off the old ‘white’ website… I’ll miss the old big boxes.

I do have doubts in my mind about the ‘Big Muff’ though, can EHX really not make a ‘Big’ Muff? …it’s such an icon for the company, it would be sad to see them no longer being made.

Really? It said not to use it with any other adaptors, even EHX ones.

that’s because EHX have pedals that run on 18 and 24v

as you’ve seen already, the supplied adaptor is a 9v centre negative boss type. That is the only type you should use. the one spot supplies 9v centre negative (without any of the adaptors) from it’s chain, so it will be fine ….although some pedals might make noise or not work correctly when chained, you won’t do any damage to the pedal.

You obviously aren’t sure about this stuff yourself and that’s exactly why EHX state what they do in the manual, it’s very easy to damage a pedal using the incorrect type. If in doubt ask before plugging in anything you aren’t sure about.

Hey Melx, what kinda wah do you use? I’m always looking for interesting filter type ideas!

    TGM

Just a cheap regular crybaby I bought used and modded it.. did the ‘midrange’ & ‘vocal’ … & changed the sweep for less treble, also TB’d it with volume mod.

it has a really cool ‘wwwoooooooaaaawww’ sound now and is brilliant for creating feedback.
