For the record: I finally bought an Electro Harmonix power supply, and it did the trick. Being outside US made it a little harder to get it, but I finally got it.
I can’t imagine why, but my EHX Memory toy only works with the Electro-Harmonix US96DC-200BI power supply, or with 9v batteries. As I wrote here before, the regular 9V power supply I use with my BOSS pedals had no effect on my EHX pedal.
So, if you have the same problem, I suggest you try the EHX power supply. Yeah, it sucks that the pedals won’t work with other adapters. But if you don’t want to depend on 9v batteries, the EHX power supply seems to be the only option available.

Regulated 9VDC, 2.1mm barrel (if it fits, you’re probably using the right one), center negative. Most EHX XO and Nano series pedals use that type of adapter, too.My guess is that it doesn’t work with a regular 9VDC, but only with the weirdo 9,6VDC that Electro Hamonix sells.
Any thoughts?

I’ve just ordered an EHX 9.6v AC/DC adaptor, so if that doesn’t work then there’s definitely something wrong with the pedal!Shoegazing, did you managed to make it work with the EHX adaptor?
February 24, 2012 at 11:58 pm in reply to: What are the exact specifications for a MEMORY TOY power supply #117023mauropinMemberWow! And I thought I was doing something wrong, but seems to me that it’s a general problem with these pedals!
I also have a EHX Memory Toy, and as looppool posted before, it doesn’t work on an AC/DC adapter. The adapter I’m using is a 9Vdc, 250mA, and works pretty well with my BOSS Distortion pedal. But with the EHX Memory Toy, it just turns on the LED, but the effects keep dead. The guitar still plays, the sound goes well, but if I turn up the ‘blend’ control while with the adapter, the sound goes down. No effects at all.
The Memory Toy works fine with batteries, but as it is a pain in the ass to put batteries on it, I hoped I could use the adapter — with no results! The adapter is new, I just bought it for this…I’m using it on the BOSS pedal just because it didn’t work on the Memory Toy.
It was said here that it could be “something’s wrong with the jack on your Memory Toy”. But seems to me that is a major malfunction on most of the pedals, as many folks here seems to have the same problem!
No one from Electro Harmonix care to respond to us here?
The Admin answered before, but seems to me that he doesn’t have a clue on what’s wrong. I’m almost certain that the pedals are coming out of the factory with this malfunction.
Such a disappointment with this brand. I sure won’t recommend it to anyone.
