Ron Neely fixed my Memory Man. He is now “EHX God.”
MattInVegasMemberThanks! stoked. I’m happy as an EHX loyalist
MattInVegasMemberOK, I’m going by what the local repair guy said, as he had the pedal since February. NS responded promptly and courteously, and I’m sure they have to guard against replacing every broken pedal, so I understand. Where should I send?
MattInVegasMemberXO. Liked that design better.
MattInVegasMemberYeah, but the local guy said it was the motherboard, and the NS rep kindly said they can’t replace the board because that would be like replacing the unit. I don’t want to have to replace it with an MXR Carbon Copy, but I can’t afford to replace expensive pedals after two years of careful use.
MattInVegasMemberYes, during pauses, with no hands on the guitar. It’s essential for my American Standard Strat.
I just found an old interview with Randy Rhodes talking abiout how early on his C-J squealed when he wasn’t playing it.
MattInVegasMemberOh, yeah, you’re totally right. That is a draaaaaag. I made a few misbuys and have some cards that don’t work. The 2880 was clearly overdue for an update. I like having the reverse and octave functions on the foot pedal, but the expanded memory overshadows that unless you soundsculpt publicly on a semi-regular basis.
Ironically, I’d wind up having a lot more recording brainstorm sessions with the 48000 due to how many loops you can save. I wound up creating all my loops live with the 2880 anyway and never change cards, and haven’t really used it for backing tracks of effects yet. I am very intrigued by the possibilities the 48000 opens up for recording multiple loops live and being able to switch back and forth though. You should only be able to (numerically) switch up and down seamlessly, but the possibilities for improv and extended jams/mixes are practically infinite.
I couldn’t wait for the 4800. I’d have to hear the feeback about a new product that cost that much anyway before I bought it. No stores are going to carry it here.
MattInVegasMemberI mean you don’t use those cards with a Mac. You can record your loops onto the card through the 2880. If you want to be able to upload the loops to your computer and refine it, arcane of a need as that is, you’re right you can’t.
MattInVegasMemberI have a Mac. I have no need to format cards.
MattInVegasMemberYes. One setting can be entirely set to a volume pedal, but its the wet “synth” sound. It’s a little different that playing straight through a volume pedal. Or wah pedal, for that matter.
When you set a voicing like cello or flute, the volume setting can come into play more. The freeze settings get more overall use, especially when your master portamento [gliss setting] with the exp pedal.
MattInVegasMemberactually, it does reduce noise when I play the LP through a Big Muff.
MattInVegasMemberI have it in my chain, and it reduces noise on my Strat (when it is set to the bridge amd neck pickups), but makes no difference on my Les Paul. But I get no noise on my LP to begin with.
Set the amp to the clean channel and use a big muff with new cables and see what happens.
MattInVegasMemberI understand it doesn’t, but the old pedal may work with the HOG2.
MattInVegasMembersame here. mine’s two years old. Took it to a local to have it checked out and will be sending it in if it doesn’t work out
MattInVegasMemberpretty sure mine does
