I use one effect all the time, a Big Muff, thats all I use. I used to use like 20 pedals but I find using just one is far better and allows more creative time, instead of adjusting pedals all the time I just set the muff and play.

Big Muff is a staple for me. I have lots of other effects which are fun and inspiring just like everyone else said, but if i am only going to use one effect, it’s gonna be a big muff.

yea, i’m more interested in the deluxe mem man anyway. the 16 second delay looks bad ass too, but there’s no where i can demo it…any feedback on the 16 second delay?

The strengths of the 16sec DD (or features not available on the DMM or the SMMH):

    1. It has a click track that allows you to time your loops to measures, rather than just seconds. It gives you a 4 beat count-in before the looping begins so you can anticipate the tempo.
    2. The internal clock can be synced by MIDI to a drum machine
    3. It has magna storage, which means that you can save a recording in the device even after powering down.
    4. The modulation section has control over both rate and depth. You can get chorus, flange, rotary, and pitch bending warble.
    5. You have the option to record a loop for a set # of measures, and when the measure is completed, you can keep playing and it will automatically start dubbing over the part you just played for the first loop. You can keep layering into infinity.
    6. If you have the foot controller (which is very hard to find, but the HOG foot controller also works with it), you can turn the modulation off/on during the performance. The modulation does not record into the loop.

If you decide to go with the 16sec DD, ask first if the “4 beat count-inl” mod has already been done to the unit. EHX will do this mod for you for an additional $30 +/-, but the later models already have it added. It allows you to record a loop without the 4 beat count-in, like the SMMH, by setting the Course slider at maximum.

Also, be very careful with the sliders. They are fragile. This is one of the drawbacks of EHX pedals that use sliders instead of knobs.

damn sounds cool, but pretty much the same as my boss looper. those modulations to tracks sounds like an awesome feature…i’ll prob go with the DMM. thanks for all your input

    1) Germanium overdrive (I just love that flat battery sound)
    2) Soul Preacher
    3) Voice Box
    4) Doctor Q

look for the devolt…i can’t remember who makes it, but you can short any 9v signal to any pedal. just google ‘devolt’ and you’ll find it…runs $20 or something. i have a germanium though, and it’s awesome.

if electro harmonix made a real pedal board, it’d have to be 10×20 feet in surface area so i could carry all their pedals at once.
