sweet, hammond mfg has similar enclosures! more the russian style, but whatevs!
mattcaseyMemberQuote:visit diystompboxes and do a search, there’s a guy there that makes them IIRC.hmnmm…. not finding it….
mattcaseyMemberman, i am listening to the different module sound clips right now and wishing i wasn’t unemployed and needing a car at the moment because there’s an x330 (looks like a les paul custom cherry burst) on ebay in perfect condition for $350 and some sweet modules for about $70/piece…. i’d have to go for an lp guitar with some fuzz and overdrive effects on it. i’m a proud a fuzz junky…
also have to mention those electras are set neck guitars, as opposed to the kort which has a bolt on.
mattcaseyMemberQuote:I recently stumbled upon one of these at a car boot sale:
And it got me thinking, if you could have any (effect or effects) built into any guitar (or bass) what would you have?
I’d have a Pelham Blue Gibson SG with a Doctor Q and Holy Grail built in…left-handed of course :thumb:
What would you have?i live in omaha and they have one of those for sale at a place called rainbow music. they want $1000 obo, but i’ve seen it online by a guy who restores guitars for something like $200-400.
i think it’s a japanese company called KORT, but the decal they had used on the headstock came off on most of them.
anyone see the electra MPC les paul guitars with interchangeable effects modules in them? that’s a think of the past, but you could probably pick one of them up for under $400, then search for the exact effects you want…the modules go for something like $100 a piece. i’ve been tempted a couple of times…

by the way, has anyone else run an octave multiplexer or micro synth through a big muff or english muffin? it sounds AWESOME! the synth thru the big muff zaps crunchy robot sounds and the multiplexer thru eng muffn tears my head off and throws it against the wall, then the stack, then back again. totally boggles my mind!

Tube based also: English Muff’n, Hot Tubes, Tube Zipper
ah, gathered that by the two huge tubes sticking out of my muffn!
mattcaseyMemberi thought the dude with two axis fuzzes was the coolest person on earth, now i know it’s whoever has this set up.
btw, ehx man, that was like observing a doctor coach someone through open heart surgery on the phone.

since my geekness knows no bounds, i stumbled into another one of these considerably cheaper than the last and snagged it. the seller didnt seem to know what it was and could only provide a terrible photo in which the pedal looked somewhat damaged. i was hoping the bottom part of the casing would be in slightly better shape than mine and i could swap em out and have one near perfect one and one that was a little banged up, but when the package arrived and i opened it up i discovered this one was in better shape than the first. and check out the battery that was in it! when the hell do you think thats from… on top the new one is on the right, and with the innerds photo the new one is on the left.
AHHHH LUCKY!!!

mattcaseyMemberQuote:Quote:Okay, I’ve been interested in this pedal since it came out but nobody stocks it around to test out. Riddle me some questions, but bear with me, I don’t play with distortion. Does it boost your volume crazy loud and hiss like mad? I’m trying to find something of a light dirt or slightly overdriven TS-9/Bad Monkey but “different” sorta sound out of this pedal. Can it do that with my Telecasters? It gets loud, but not too loud. I don’t get any hiss with mine. If I have all of the knobs close to max, I do pick up radio stations. I have a few other pedals that do this aswell. This is a light dirt/od, there isn’t much gain to this pedal. I wouldn’t compare it to a TS. You can also get that ripped speaker/velcro-y sound by lowering the voltage.
i used to have the hiss/radio station issue a bit too. i noticed that the more gain the more radio, also try placing it at different points in your FX chain, or if you have a daisy chain power supply, switch around which slot is powering it, you should be able to minimize the hiss/radio so it’s not even there.
mattcaseyMemberMING — i’m joining this a little late, but i’ve had a germanium for about half a year now. i love it! the last couple weeks i’ve been playing a les paul special through a dod yngwie malmsteen overdrive, then to an octave multiplexer, then germanium, then english muffn.
i’m not crazy about having both the geOD and muffn activated at the same time, but the yngwie (got it for free with my eng muffn, but it’s awesome for a $30 pedal) the yngwie to the germanium sounds incredible. it just takes the treble boost to an insane level and makes the most righteous speaker ripping sound EVER!!!!!!
with the octave multiplexer engaged in there, it makes some crazy deep sounds, but the tracking can get pretty f’ed up — a sound i really dig.
if you’re into stoner rock, there’s definitely awesome sounds you can achieve with this combo.
also, i’ve noticed with the geOD you kind of have to pick your gain first, then if you want to short the voltage dial that down to just about the point where it cuts out, and finally fine tune the devolt/dead battery sound with the bias. anyone else have suggestions on ways to pull out awesome sounds from this guy?
mattcaseyMemberQuote:that looks like the sound my muff makes too!
mattcaseyMemberQuote:Quote:*Which is is BTW? Ram’s / Lamb’s ? Neither makes much sense anyway, I don’t see any sheep on the pedal. Where did that come from?
(What is that little face thing supposed to be anyway?)I thought it was called a Ram’s Head for the logo…i heard a story about someone drawing it and then them just slapping it on as a logo without having any idea what the gremlin thing was so they called it a ram’s head….gotta love electro harmonix legends!
mattcaseyMemberit seems to be cleaned up a bit now. RF is lower than it was before and i can manage.
