I use a Voo Doo Labs Pedal Switcher and it makes a big difference in the quality of sound I get. I wouldnt want to be without it now that I have one
LouisMemberUh. Thanks for contributing to this conversation
LouisMemberI dont play lots of leads, pretty much down strokes in the vein of Joan Jet
LouisMemberYeah, but aren’t those units digital beasts? What if it were a much simpler unit such as the digital electric mistress or something like that? I willing to bet that after they figure it out they cound install it pretty easily and cheaply, but I could be wrong
LouisMemberActually, with midi you wouldn’t need to add features, because it’s all controlled from your laptop. You could have all your modulation pedals set to sync at whatever rate you like. It just depends on what software you use. So all that would be needed (as far as I know) would be a midi in/out
and I know several people who already use midi sync pedals along with Ableton Live.
Ableton is a pretty amazing program. The feature I like the most is it’s ability to do songs arrangements differently each time, so it’s good if you have any sort of jam session, or freeform type stuff. You aren’t restricted to an arrangement, but you can skip verses or repeat choruses as many times as you like. This way it allows you to feed off of your audiance.
Also recording stuff, loops, and much much moreBut right now you pretty much have to have a person devoted to running it, I mean you can play guitar and control it, but if you want to change to the chorus and turn of you delay and switch on your overdrive you run into problems. And I love to switch pedals at different parts of songs. So it’s a bit difficult for me… hence the midi solution
LouisMemberWith a Midi controller you could sync all of your digital pedLs with a single click.
And you could change the tempo of all your modulation pedals at once.
And if you used something like Ableton Live, you could sync it all with loops or whatever you wanted, and change it all on the fly
you could sync your tempos with the drummer, or sync several instruments together. The possibilities are endless with midi sync
LouisMemberIf tap tempo is possible in analog delay then so is midi sync analog delay!!!
LouisMembergood ideas. I’d like to see Midi ports, and silent footswitches.
LouisMemberSo what about the Stereo Clone Theory, that seems more versitile than the Small Clone. Is the SCT analog or digital? Wouldn’t that be more desireable than the Small Clone?
I’m probably asking dumb questions, but I gotta find out
LouisMemberSeveral of the pedals say “stereo” such as the Memory man, Electric Mistress, and the Clone Theory, to name a few. However except for the MM, I dont see any description that says if they are analog or digital. I assume that they are digital since the MM and EM stereo versions are digital, but the EM doesnt say it’s digital anywhere that I’ve seen. So am I to assume that any pedal that says “stereo” is digital?
LouisMemberAlso, what if I had the DEM and a nano chorus? Would that give some of the same variations or perhaps more since I could set them at different rates and depths?
LouisMemberSo when EHX makes a “deluxe” model and a “stereo” model, they are usually analog and digital, like in the memory man? Is this a constant?
March 9, 2009 at 3:10 am in reply to: Stereo Memory Man w/Hazarai (and other modulation pedals) #92779LouisMemberOh, and I’d like a more quiet footswitch button. It’s pretty loud, when I’m playing softer songs on stage you can totally hear me when I tap tempo the delay.
So just to sum everything up I’ve suggested:
* Midi/Clock sync
* Strum sync (I’ve never tried any pedals that have this feature, but it seems nice)
* Quiet footswitches (Voo Doo Labs have pretty heavy duty switches that are totally quiet)
* Expression pedal with programmable control for any knob
* Delay in 1/4 1/8 and 1/16th notes, perhaps by depressing the Delay knob down. And some sort display or indicator letting you know what delay you are on. Perhaps a backlit led or a multi colored light rangeMarch 8, 2009 at 1:53 pm in reply to: Stereo Memory Man w/Hazarai (and other modulation pedals) #94284LouisMemberWhat if the Delay knob could be pushed down? That would allow you to control the 1/4 1/8 1/16 notes.
I’m not sure what the best would be, but maybe a small backlit led to indicate which setting you were on. Or maybe a color coded light?
LouisMemberI got one of the new ones for x-mas and mine works great on all settings
