I think Guitar Center has a policy that you can have something ordered to the store for you to try. Buy it if you like it, or the store will keep it on the shelf for someone else to try kinda deal. I remember the whitest dude with dreads I’ve ever seen asking if I’d be interested in that when I was looking for my Pulsar. (Of course nobody stocks anything I’m looking for.)
liveatsixMemberI really like the stock Fender Texas Specials and Tex Mex sets.
liveatsixMemberHello, and welcome to the forum.
I tried both the Q-Tron+ (XOed) and the Micro Q-Tron about a year back in my search for the best envelope follower, and they were both okay, at best, for my liking. The QT+ was nice for the features, but it boosted my signal way too much. Some say that the Boost set to ON and playing with the Drive could tame that, but I had no luck. I did love the up/down switch on it, that was about it. The MQT I tried was not very good at all, and I’ll keep it at that. But it’s all about what is good to your ears. I’ve got a Nano Dr. Q that is just awesome sounding, and I have yet to tweak the trim pot in it, so that goes to show ya.
I own a Stereo Electric Mistress, and that is probably my favorite pedal right now. I can’t compare it to a Small Clone since I’ve yet to try one, but the Flange/Chorus options reacting together, plus the filter matrix, make it a killer piece of work.
liveatsixMemberI’ve been looking for something in a cheap Les Paul copy, and the Hagstom D2H fit to a T. The composite neck is really great, probably the best I’ve played. Not super stoked about the blue sparkly color, kinda Richard Simmons, but oh well…
liveatsixMemberI really don’t care, just as long as it could blend the octave up from nothing to a little bit, to full on. The original signal would be there all the time no matter where the blend knob would be. Also true bypass.
I ‘spose someone would put in a switch to add in some (fill in the blank), you know, some “zip” or “zazz.”liveatsixMemberDoes the Micro POG need to be first in the chain to preserve the tracking? Or do any of you have it anywhere else in your chain? Just wondering if it sounds better first or behind compression or dirt.
liveatsixMemberAfter hours moving things around, tinkering with settings, wiring, one noise complaint (thanks to the Muff), and one trip to Home Depot, I’ve got it together and sounding great.
liveatsixMemberIs that a Conrad on the left? Very nice!
liveatsixMemberI got me one of these this morning and it is just awesome. It’s like a koala bear crapped a rainbow in my brain, it’s so good. I’ve always been in the “flanger and chorus are almost the same so why not have them in the same pedal?” camp for the longest time. This makes me very happy.
liveatsixMemberI added a Little Big Muff a few weeks ago. The UPS man delivered an Electric Mistress and a pedalbag this morning. Three cheers for the tax return!
My spidey senses tell me that this weekend will be spent mixing them around, connecting them somehow, and finding creative power solutions. There is room to add something else. Maybe a big box Frequency Analyzer.
liveatsixMemberSounds nice. I’ve been a fan of those little Champ600’s. They are awesome little amps.
liveatsixMemberI primarly play Telecasters, so I have my Soul Preacher on all of the time. It’s become part of my sound. I’ve tried pretty much everything else out there and nothing does the job better. And the big plus for me is that it adds a touch of dirt if you want it to.
liveatsixMemberThanks for the info. I was dragging my heels a bit wondering about the noise question. Much appreciated!
liveatsixMemberThe SEM is looking like my next purchase. Does it have a lot of noise to it like most chorus effects? For example, I tried out a Clone Theory that was very noisy.
liveatsixMemberMy two main guitars are a Blackout Tele and a Nashville Tele.
And an Eastwood Savannah. She doesn’t get played much but is pretty darn good for a guitar that I acquired for $85.
