KrinorMemberQuote:I seriously wish I owned 3 LPB-1’s I could use them all over my set up!!
Personally I find the LPB-1 circuit to be a great little building block for other effects. I have made quite a few of these myself. Combining two LPB’s in one box is very cool. It creates a nice and dynamic crunch/overdrive. My current favorite LPB is one where I’ve combined it with a slightly modified Big Muff tone control and have a switch which changes the frequency response to go from linear to treble boost. A real problem fixer wherever it’s placed! I also love the jangly character it adds. And as stated above: adding a compressor is really nice. Soulpreacher, LPB-1 and a Deluxe Memory Man into a small class a tube amp = bliss.
KrinorMemberSeems like the problem is that the unity gain factor changes according to which effects are used.
Here’s a thought: Why don’t you put the booster in front of the Boss unit, and use it as a high/low volume switch. You keep the volume down on the LPB-1 for rhythm work, and then when you disengage it your signal goes undisturbed into the Boss unit and amp at a much higher preset volume. Kind of backwards way of doing it, but it should work just as well.
KrinorMemberQuote:IMO First of all you should put the LPB-1 first in your chain to boost the pure signal (signal conditioners almost always go first in the chain). This is usually a good idea. But in this case I don’t think putting the booster up front will do anything but raising the volume. That Boss board is a buffered, digital COSM unit, whereas the LPB-1 is a simple one transistor gainstage. Can’t boost a byte into overdrive now can you ??
KrinorMemberAnyone have an idea of when they will reach Europe ? I just pre-ordered mine from a local dealer. Hope it’s not too far away.
KrinorMemberQuote:oh the one last posted! i have that too i LOVED it till the wires gave up the ghost.. and i know nothing of solderingYou could sell it to me
Personally I have only tried th DEM, and I probably use it too much. I usually leave it on with just a bit of modulation. Like on the first David Gilmour solo record.
KrinorMemberBut before you take it back; try changing the battery…
I don’t know how many times I’ve had pedals “fail” on me, behaving strange, making foreign noises, generally just beeping and making my tone go up in pitch… Only to discover that the battery is almost flat…KrinorMemberI was afraid of that. These units really needs to be set using digital multi meters or oscilloscopes in order to get the values right. BTW has anyone seen a service manual for this effect or other EH BBD units ?
Oh, and posting that picture was no trouble at all. I always take gutshots of all my pedals.
KrinorMemberQuote:Thanks man!
I’m going to adjust them tomorrow…No problem.
Remember to report back to us once you’ve dialed it in. I’m curious to hear if it works.
KrinorMemberHm… Kind of strange. Placing the LPB-1 last would usually give you a pure volume boost.
What kind of outputs does the Boss unit have ? (Like DI out, Amp out etc. ?)KrinorMemberAnytime
KrinorMemberHere you go:
KrinorMemberA quick video round trip of the factory and possibly a little interview with Mr. Matthews would be great! Put it on the EHX effects sampler DVD’s !
KrinorMemberNow all we need is a clip with a keyboard and vocals.
KrinorMemberThis seems to be a box full of hours of fun
Can’t wait to get my hands on one. Now I’m really looking forward to the official presentations.KrinorMemberQuote:No link, but I remember reading somewhere that a friend of Mr. Matthews drew it and he thought it looked cool. Seems as good a reason as any to me.I’ve gotten stickers with my Holy Grail and Dr. Q, I put one on my thermos but it faded, got stained with coffee, got soaked when I cleaned the coffee out, and then eventually fell off. I’m much more hesitant to use the next one.
EDIT:
With the new company came the famous EH logo, which has been variously described as a “ram’s head” or “lamb’s head.” According to Mike, the logo was designed by a female artist and “I liked it so I just used it as a logo, something to attract attention to the ad. It didn’t have any special meaning other than I thought it was distinctive.” (Neely)It’s not the first place I read it, but:
