I really enjoyed that, sounded very cool!
Kim Ov MorosMemberThanks! Looking forward to releasing this album very soon. The EHX stuff I use really do help make our sound unique and full.
Kim Ov MorosMemberI know this post is quite late, but I only picked up a pair of the VR models to try out about 2-3 months ago.
I have to say that I like these very much so far; enough to want another pair. I have them in a 4×12 cab with a pair of off-brand Legends and I like the results. Before, the quad of “Legends” were way too boomy in this particular cab and swapping out 2 of them for the EHX VR speakers really balanced the cab out. So I have another empty 4×12 that soon will get the same matching arrangement.
Sorry I can’t be much more specific about these speakers as I have no way to directly A/B them with any others at this time. I’d like to do that in the near future as well, but I guess my bottom line here is that it was money very well spent and I’m very pleased to have spent so little for a huge improvement over what I had.
Kim Ov MorosMemberQuote:I know keeping the output control lower forces you to pick harder and that in effect helps level your playing.I am VERY surprised a compressor does not help you. Place the comp after the 9,s and the comp sustain setting up .
That has to limit the output of the pedal…Yes! Seems to work much better now as you suggested. Thank you!
Kim Ov MorosMemberThank you! I ‘ll try the Comp as you suggested. Maybe I didn’t have the settings dialed in correctly before….
Kim Ov MorosMemberI’ve had this happen to me a few times. The LED would be ON, but no sound.
Unplugging the power supply from the pedal for a moment before replugging it back in would get the unit back in order.
Kim Ov MorosMemberYeah, I guess it’s harder to hear in the vid. It’s like the Gate on my preamp isn’t clamping down as it should. Just trying to figure this out; sorry if I was unintentionally misleading anyone that my Mel9 is defective…which is isn’t.
The vid is just a chug power chord with no Mel9 effect (the effect goes to a different amp and speakers) But there’s that ZAP immediately after that chug just before the Reverb effect is heard.
The signal chain is: Guitar > Mel9 (Dry Out) > Tremonti wah > rack preaamp/fx/poweramp > speakers A
Mel9 (Effect Out) > Behringer Compressor/Limiter > Morley Volume > Crate Powerblock > speakers BEDIT:
It was the Gate on my preamp. A simple resistor change and back in action. Thanks!Kim Ov MorosMemberSorry, I posted the wrong link. Edited and here it is again:
