Oquedu-
You should do a search on “Tube EQ noise” (or something) on this forum- one guy discovered that when he removed the power jack from the housing that stopped his noise issue. He brought it around outside of the case and has it plugged in that way. Someone recommended he shield the jack inside the housing. I read about this last night after posting here.Cheers-

It’s a matter of tactile feedback, and knowing the feeling of getting warmed-up tubes really going and responding dynamically to your touch, and not being stiff as solid state circuitry often feels. There IS a difference.
With tubes, the louder, the better. Sometimes with solid state, the louder, the louder (and harsher).
Why is so much effort put into making SS sound like tubes? Talk to Hartley Peavey
kilbeyMemberGreat thread! Would any of the tube series pedals work the same way? I’m looking to use the Tube EQ as a preamp for an old Peavey MX (had to pare down my amp collection, and that’s the one that would fetch the least so it’s the one I kept). This amp has 4 6l6’s in the power section, but a mediocre SS preamp.
Would another pedal from the same family work better for this application? I think the EQ may come in handy tho.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts–

kilbeyMemberHello there Oquedo-
I am looking into the possibility of getting a Tube EQ– do you think it’s got enough power to work as a preamp? I have an amp with a tube power section and SS preamp. I’d like to go right into the power amp with this pedal. Will it do what I’m hoping, and serve as a preamp? Thanks, and please do post when you replace the tubes.
Cheers-
