Thanks! Do you think the following solution with the red onion would be provide a better bypass than the LS-2?
– lower the level of the germanium OD output on loop 1,
– keep the same output level on loop 2 (chorus) .
Yeah it’s just basic, and I don’t really have a use for a boost. I think passive volume controls are a bit more useful. Sometimes decreasing gain is a lot more fun.
I agree on the Hazarai, it’s a songwriters dream.
i know you say you don’t really need a boost, but i find a boost useful when used as an always-on ‘line driver’ …
put it at unity gain (or just above) and place it towards the end of your effects chain (certainly after whatever other dirt pedals you’re using and it will act as a kind of enhancer; tightening up your sound…
Thanks! Is one of them (LS-2 or Red Onion ) more respectful with the guitar’s tone?
i’ve got a couple of Red Onion TB loops which have no effect on my tone.
i’ve heard some people complain of the LS-2 altering tone, but it’s been several years since i’ve used one – i don’t remember it as a tone sucker myself though.
on my Germanium OD, the output level is controlled by the interaction between the three controls… if you need the gain up high, can you turn the volts down?
i find that i don’t need the gain up too high for the sounds i want.
otherwise, to answer your initial question, a Red Onion TB loop with level control would work as a master volume for the Germ OD (or whatever else you choose to put in the loop).
an LS-2 could work equally well and will give you many more routing options which may or may not prove useful.
The Germanium OD is said to require 100mA. So the LS-2 isn’t able to power all these pedals. I bought the Diago Power Supply on the diago’s website, and it sounds perfect. My chain of effect pedals works without any noise.
Concerning the LS-2, would you recommand it for switching between effect loops?
I’ve never used an LS-2, plenty of people do use them though so I guess it must be ok at what it does?
the LS-2 is a good pedal to have around though if you like messing around with effects routings.
it’s great in that it has so many modes including for switching loops or for having parallel effects loops.
some people seem to complain about the LS-2 being a tone-sucker… it’s been several years since i had one but i certainly didn’t have any problems (that i can remember).
did you tell me you got that EQ? ’cause i don’t seem to remember you telling me about it. :poke:
have you tried the EQ before the Big Muff? you could probably get some very different sounds in that configuration… whenever i’ve used an EQ and Big Muff combo i’ve always put the EQ first (maybe I should try it the other way )
i think what you’ll have to do is get another of those graphic EQs and have the BM in the middle… now that would be the ultimate Big Muff w/EQ!
